Comments: I have a few spare moments here at work and I just thought I'd check out your site. I had a (2g) grandfather, named Eli Myrick in the 27th. I believe he was either in Company F or Company G. I have the information at home. He was from Perry County, MS (I'm originally from Hattiesburg and now live in Nashville). I can't recall if he enlisted in Enterprise or Augusta, MS. He was captured at Lookout Mountain with a large part of the regiment and subsequently was sent to spend the remainder of the war in Rock Island Prison (info. source is microfilmed payroll record). I'm only too disappointed that no war stories were handed down my branch of the family. However, I do have a copy of a photo of him and his wife later in life. Would you care to have a copy? Comments: had several ancestors in Ms. units. Steven and Francis Rabjohn in Co. "D"-27th. Co. D was known as "Rayburn Rifles" I believe. Stephen died April 1st,63 at Acadamy Hospiyal in Chattanooga (gravesite unknown). Francis died 10-21-62 in Sparta, Tn....gravesi e unknown. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also interested in 13th, 29th, and 1st Bat. Sharpshooters.

Comments: My Great Grandfather Henry Hiram Bullock and my Great Uncle W. J. Bullock enlisted as privates in 1861. Henry was wounded in the leg at Perryville and W. Comments: Thanks for putting this site together. It's been hard finding info. on the 27th, but this site is a great source. I've just started doing research on my family history, the Edward Harris family, and found Andrew Jackson Harris listed in the book my moth r gave me. There's a blurb stating that he was honorably discharged in 1863 for disability (loss of lung). Do you know what battle that might have been?

I believe in l860 census, Cap McLemore was listed as near farmer from Jo n Jonas Gandy family, and he recruited my family from Ellisville, Ms. Can you verify this? Comments: Great to see someone interested in the ole 27th Mississippi Inf. One of my ancestors Charlie M. Hale was a Pvt. in Company C. the Freedonia Hards of Pontotoc Co. Mississippi. The community of Freedonia is now in the county of Union after Pontotoc and Ti pah Counties agreed to this in 1870. The original boundary ran East to West just above the present site of New Albany. Company C. was also called the Flatwoods Boys prior to their name selection. There is a brief description of these fellers drilling by the Shady Grove school house. This can be found in Elija Shettles book, Recollections of a long life.

Comments: I've really enjoyed your web site. I had three ancestors whho served in Co.G, 27th Mississippi Regiment. My gg grandfather William E. Perry, who survived the war, his brother, Stephen R. Perry, who was captured July 28, 1864 at Ezra Church and died Decemb r 10, 1864 at Camp Chase, Ohio, and their uncle William Penn Lee, who died of pneumonia in Atlanta July 1864. They all mustered into Confederate service in Augusta, Mississippi in September 1861.

Campbell - mustered Company E - 20 Aug by Capt. P.S. Catchings. e was detailed to hospital at Shelbyville TN 24 Mar 1863 - captured at Btle of Shelbyville 28 June 1863 - forwarded to Nashville 30 June. Does anyone know where those prisoners were taken for the duration? I know he survived and died in 1915. Any info app eciated. : )

I have limited info from the National Archives that the 30th was later consolidated with the 24th, 27th, 29th and 30th. My greatgrandfather was Wahington Woodbridge Hall, who was born in Dallas Co., AL in 1838 and died in Jasper Co., MS in 1893. I have a copy of his "Oath of Alliegence and Amnesty" signe in Dallas Co., AL on 8/26/65. I'm also searching for information on Jeremiah Fowler who drowned in Mobile Bay in 1863 while involved in salt recovery efforts there.
