Banquet
The challenge of changing out of show clothes and driving over to the country club began as soon as the awards presentation ended. Everyone soon reached the country club in one piece and started talking amongst themselves. However, there was one key person missing.
"Where's your mom?" Elizabeth W. whispered to twelve-year-old Dana Meadows.
"I have no idea," Dana whispered back.
Suddenly Ainsley appeared with a pile of wrapped boxes in her arms and announced with a grin, "It's everyone's favorite time! Door prize time!
Please no kicking, biting, scratching, etc."
Chaos inevitably followed, but when the dust settled these were the results..
Kellie W. was proudly showing off her new spurs to Danielle Meadows, who was playing with her charm bracelet, and her sister Ammity, sporting new horseshoe earrings and a matching necklace. Dana Meadows and Elizabeth W. were talking about Lonesome Glory and As You Like It while Elizabeth's husband, Ryan, was nearby fiddling with his new saddle case. Dana had gotten a free breeding to As You Like It and Elizabeth one to Lonesome Glory. Both Kates were looking for Elizabeth W. Kate McKinney, along with husband JC Chasez and a new black leather crop (which JC had immediately given to Kate after recieving it), was interested in details of her free breeding to SF Dreamin' All Day. The second Kate wanted to know more about her planning and creating package from Top Notch Show Consultation. Liza, Harley, Jores Peters (toting a deluxe bridle case), and Alana stood chattering happily. Beside Liza was a wooden grooming box, which she had recieved, with a halter in it, which Harley had recieved. The talk was mostly of Liza's stallion RCp./SB*** Dun It Again (HHSA/*SB99*/HWA/HET+) because Alana had won a free breeding to him. Ainsley, with a folded wool show cooler in her arms, stood with Rayn talking about the details of Rayn's free breeding to Ainsley's stallion, Fair Play.
"Who wants food?" was the call heard around twenty minutes later that recieved an enthusiastic response.
A mad rush to the tables followed, where the food was laid out banquet-syle. A wide variety of food was offered, from pumpkin pie to lobster to salad. Soon all were sitting at tables eating, drinking, and talking (about horses of course).
Music and dancing followed. "Someday", "Mambo #5", "Everything You Want", and "All Star" were some of the numerous songs being played. At the end of the night, all went home sleepy and happy.
The last thought that went through Ainsley's mind as she fell asleep was that it had been a great day.
