Our sleigh ride entries were from Ann Burk of Stary Night Equestrian Center (@ BSS) Claire of Blazin' Trails, Ana M. of Foxwood Farms, Carrie of Foxwood Farms, Kate at Whisperwood Farms (@ FXF) and Savannah of Royale Rose Breeding Center, and, of course, me. :) Not too good a turn-out for that, considering a total of *seventeen* people entered the *show*. Oh well. We had a "jolly-good time." I borrowed a neighboring stable's two beautiful Percherons who were a lovely grey, and very broad and muscular. Thus we took off on a sleigh ride over the fields (which a farmly kindly allowed us to use) and backroads. Snow was swirling heavily, and everything was so quiet, so peaceful. The sound of the horses' snorting and the gentle murmmer of the sleigh sliding through the snow was loud in the silence. Savannah led us in some Christmas carols, while Ana sat up front with me and drove (good job, Ana!). Kate, Ann B. and Carrie decided to sing us a trio on "Drummer Boy" and Claire told us "The Story of the Candy Cane."
Hot Chocolate and snickerdoodles were passed around. After a while, the bitter cold seeping through our clothing, we returned to BSS where we stalled the two Percherons and went indoors to roast mashmellows. And after that, as it was growing late, one by one they took their leave of BSS and headed for their own barns. Thanks so much for attendiong, gals! =)
