Show Jumping
Since this was the highlight of the show (judging by the enormous size of the crowds, we had over 500 people in the audience that day!)
then I will do a summary of each class.
111. Mini-Grand Prix (riders 17 and under) (10 entrants)
This class was outstanding! All the horses were amazingly brilliant and their riders were well matched to the horses. SF Chevalier D'Or and Nancy pulled off stunning double clear rounds well WBS Silver Baron pulled off the only other clear round and then pulled the last fence in the jump off. Way to go guys you two were almost going to be tied! Twilight Splendour and WBS Dreamscope both ended up with 4 faults but Twilight Splendour having the better time took 3rd place. SHA/EEq. Midnight Dancer and Imperial Sparks did very well too, Allison had a very nicely done ride with only 4 faults but she had time faults added onto her score. Imperial Sparks had pulled rails in both of the double combinations.
1st place - SF Chevalier D'Or shown by Nancy of Sterling Pride Farms
2nd place - WBS Silver Baron shown by Rhiannon of WES
3rd place - Twilight Splendour shown by Liana of Hope Ranch
4th place - WBS Dreamscope shown by Katie Dopheide** of TGEC
5th place - SHA/EEq. Midnight Dancer shown by Allison Zeal of Classic Rose Acres, WES
6th place - Imperial Sparks ridden by Kate of Hunters Hill (Hope Ranch)
112. Grand Prix (riders 18 and older) (5 entrants)
This was yet another amazing class. The horses that turned out for this event were well prepared for the challenging course put forth for them. The riders didn't seem to be challenged by it in the first round at all, since all the horses went clear except for SHA*/SEq. Shimeree's Rose, who ended up with a time fault and a rail. The jump-off though was a bit more tricky with a very challenging roll-back turn that required precise riding to get by it safely and quickly. SHA* Cutest Thing was the first horse in the ring in the jump-off and she set a fast pace but it wasn't quick enough for WBS*/SHA** Classified Information and Solace, who had extremely fast times. It was a very interesting class to watch.
1st place - Solace shown by Sydney of Foxwood Farm
2nd place - WBS*/SHA** Classified Information shown by Kelly Smith of Mare Haven Farm @ Hope Ranch
3rd place - SHA* Cutest Thing shown by Mathilde Vincent of Sterling Pride Farms
4th place - Tasteful Design shown by Steve Markus* of Classic Rose Acres, WES
5th place - SHA*/SEq. Shimmeree's Rose shown by Alexis Coen* of Classic Rose Acres, WES
113. Gambler's Choice (11 entrants)
One of the larger classes that was held during the show, it was definately a fantastic portray of the great show jumping in HoofBeats. Casino and Kate were by far one of the best show jumping pairs I have ever seen. This class was a bunch of great fun for everyone in the audience as well as on horseback.
1st place - Casino ridden by Kate of Hunters Hill (Hope Ranch)
2nd place - Darkwynd shown by Mathilde Vincent of Sterling Pride Farms
3rd place - WBS Immortal Beloved shown by Mathilde Vincent of Sterling Pride Farms
4th place - Outgoing shown by Steve Markus* of Classic Rose Acres, WES
5th place - Cinnamon Sugar shown by Liza T. of Raspberry Ridge Stables
6th place - Harmonic Magic, shown by Julie Hayes of BSS
114. Puissance (2 entrants)
This class didn't have many entries, only two, but the horses that entered sure jumped their hearts out! The fences started at 3'6" and both the horses cleared that height, so they were moved up to 3'9"...again, it was cleared. As it kept going soon it got to 4'6", then 5'6"...soon it came to being 6'6". SHA*/EEq. Moon of Midnight (HDA/HHSA*/HET+) was starting to struggle a little bit with the increasingly difficult heights. As they were raised more and more the audience was getting nervous...who was going to knock the fence down? Finally at 7'3" Moon of Midnight knocked it over. WBS Encore's Lady was the winner but it wasn't over yet! Liza kept jumping the fence until the incredible height of 7'6"! WOW! Everyone was impressed. The fence was knocked over at the next attempt but all in all it was an amazing class with some extremely talented horses.
1st place - WBS Encore's Lady shown by Liza T. of Raspberry Ridge Stables
2nd place - SHA*/EEq. Moon Of Midnight (HDA/HHSA*/HET+) shown by Mathilde Vincent of Sterling Pride Farms
115. Six Bar Under Lights (4 entrants)
This class was a bit different from any other show jumping class held at TGEC. This class featured a series of six fences with two strides inbetween and the horses had to maneuvre all the way from the first fence to the last fence without knocking any over...and as they completed each level the fences got higher and tougher. Candlelight and WBS Renoir were great candidates for this. Both were steady and collected all throughout the course but WBS Renoir knocked the second to last fence at the height of 4'6" while Candlelight kept going until 4'9".
1st place - Candlelight shown by Carrie of Foxwood Farm
2nd place - WBS Renoir shown by Melvin Lee** of TGEC
3rd place - WBS Aerobleu shown by Liza T. of Raspberry Ridge Stables
4th place - Sosa shown by Mathilde Vincent of Sterling Pride Farms
116. Translucent Glitter Cup Classic (7 entrants)
Another exciting class was the Translucent Glitter Cup Classic, featuring some of the most distinguishable horse/rider combinations in HoofBeats. No one better to represent TGEC could have shown up. There was great effort from the horses and riders around the difficult course with the turns, angles and water obstacles. There was even some different looking fences that some of the riders remarked that neither them nor their horses had seen before. The winners, FameandGlory and Carrie, were awarded with the beautiful Translucent Glitter Cup to have until the next TGCC where they will hopefully be returning as the defending champions.
1st place - FameandGlory shown by Carrie of Foxwood Farm
2nd place - WSE/SHA*/EEq. Public Relations (HHSA) shown by Mathilde Vincent of Sterling Pride Farms
3rd place - Pardon My Franch shown by Kelly Smith of Mare Haven Farm @ Hope Ranch

118. Translucent Glitter Grand Prix Classic (12 entrants)
The last show jumping class of the day, the winner to receive the TGEC Grand Prix Classic Plaque as well as the $2500 was Frankly My Dear ridden by Kyndl of PPlus@WES. Everyone in the audience was roaring and cheering all through the jump-off, which 4 of the 12 horses made it to. The course was quite the obstacle illusion with many light coloured jumps as well as tight corners, weird striding and a difficult time frame to finish in. The horses and riders had to take risks, be fast and go clean while they were working with difficult footing (from being ripped up in the earlier events plus the light sprinkle of rain we had) and they still had to be balenced to deal with the striding. It was quite the show and everyone who make it to the jump-off deserves great props.
