Name of Show: Mustang Horse Exhibition, Dinner, and Adoption
Date of Show: March 26th
Hosted by: Kim Rogers
Hosted at: Pine Lane Farms

The mustang exhibition, adoption, and dinner was a huge success. Everything went very well and some excellent mustangs who needed good homes found just that. The dinner went well and everyone had fun talking about horses, mustangs in particular. Then came the part of the evening that everyone was waiting for. The exhibition and adoption....

The first horse to come through was Conquest an extremely beautiful yet surprisingly well-mannered mustang. She is the only mustang I have ever seen in this beautiful color, her body a light smokey gray with a black mane and tail and darker points on her legs and muzzle. She is already broke to halter and also is familiar with being ridden although she is no expert yet. She stands at an elegant 15.2 hh and is about seven years old. She loves jump and needs very high fences in her pasture (over 7 feet) in order to keep her in. Otherwise she is a true doll baby. Due to her huge free jump with the right training she would make an excellent jumper. Everyone watched Conquest for a moment, holding their breaths to see who she would go to.....
Conquest's new owner is Amethyst from Summerwind Farms, a mini-barn of Hope Ranch.

The next horse to come through the doors in front of the excited crowd was Captive Heart. His head turned warily as he watched the crowd and he looked like he wanted to bolt. The man leading him soothingly stroked his coat. Captive Heart is a gorgeous black and white mustang with beautiful markings. He has been broke to halter but that is about it. He will allow himself to be stroked all over, but will not let his feet be picked up yet. He is around the age of six and was left ungelded since he is a perfect example of the mustang breed. When worked in the round pen this little fellow, he stands at 14.3, will not stop going. He doesn't seem to want to give in, or hook-up, with the person working with him. He will need a knowledgeable trainer and a gentle hand, but this guy is unstoppable and once you gain his faith I am sure he will be able to take you anywhere. A few people stared at Captive Heart wondering if this challenge would go to them......
Captive Heart's new owner is Misty from Silver Arabians Farms, a minibarn of Wind Walkers.

The third horse to come out was Ticket to Ride, a large, solid-built mustang. He has an extremely long and thick mane and tail and is a very pretty sorrel color. He stands at slightly over 16.0 hh, very large for a mustang. He was gelded when he came in and is probably around three or four. He has absolutely no fear of anything and loves to shake his thick neck and whinny at anything that moves, like he is warning it that he is much tougher than it. Ticket to Ride is used to the halter and has been worked well in the round pen. He has been tacked up but never with anyone in the saddle. He is a likeable fellow and should not be too hard to train under saddle. The way he carries himself is very nice and he might prove a nice Western pleasure or dressage horse with the right training. Again the room falls quiet to hear the results of this adoption....
Ticket to Ride goes to Alana of Shining Star Stables, a minibarn of Spring Creek Stables.

The next horse out was a beautiful, black, Spanish-type mustang. Noble is an extremely handsome, younger mustang. She is probably around three years old and stands at 14.1 hh, although she might mature as large as 14.3 hh. She is an easy going horse who quickly adapted to the changes around her when she came in off the plains. She already has shown a genuine like for people and will nicker very quietly when she sees you coming in the morning. She will allow herself to be groomed all over and loves to have her withers scratched. She moves beautifully with wonderful suspension and has been accustomed to tack, although not yet started under saddle. She will make an excellent show prospect, particularly as a dressage or possible hunter mount. A few people hold their breath again as her new owner is announced....
Noble has found a new home with Samantha of Dream Believer Farm, a minibarn of Foxwood Farms.

The next horse out was a nicely built mare, who was noticeably pregnant. Edge of Heaven is a 15.3 hh mustang who is around five years old. She is probably almost half way through her pregnancy and is one of the most laid-back mustangs I have ever met. She immediately seemed to understand when she arrived that we were only here to help her and that noone would hurt her. The second day after she arrived she already would let you groom her all over. After working with her in the roundpen she immediately "hooked up" and now will follow you around like a little puppy. When you are doing something in her pen she will come up behind you and gently rest her muzzle on your shoulder. She will be extremely easy to start under saddle due to her calm nature and should prove to be a loyal and faithful companion. Everyone smiles at Edge of Heaven as she nods her head, as if in agreement....
Edge of Heaven has found a new friend with Smokey of Copperhead Arabians.

The last horse to come through was an extremely compact and well-proportioned young stallion. Desert Raider is a handsome Spanish-type mustang. He is similar in type to Noble and is a shiny buckskin standing at 15.0 hh. He shakes his head irritably and arches his neck, showing off the strong muscles underneath. He has yet to trust people and will prove to be quite a challenge to the person who adopts him. He has thickly muscled hindquarters and will run in circles around his pen, wheeling on his hindquarters and kicking up huge clouds of dirt. He will allow his body to be groomed but not his face or feet yet. He needs a lot of work but with the right training he will prove to be an excellent horse. With his speed, endurance, and looks he will be a winner in the show ring. Everyone smiles as the last horse is adopted out....
Desert Raider goes to Liza Teich of Raspberry Ridge Stables.

Thanks to everyone who attended for making this event a huge success, please make sure to email me to confirm your adoption. Also, these horses will not legally be yours for the duration of four months, therefore during that time you cannot sell them. If at some point you can no longer keep them, email me and I will place them in a new home. Also, at the end of the four month period you will be reviewed and if everything is found suitable the horse will legally be turned over to you.
                                                Thanks again
