someone kitty, BlobBerta

History:

I'd always wanted a poly kitty & knew of some people in town who had a litter of

them. They weren't well cared for. Neglected, is the word I want! The people agreed

immediately when they heard that I wanted a kitten but I never heard from them

after that. I also didn't know how to reach them. This was all done by word of mouth.

The months passed & I'd gotten Chester.

One day I got a call from my sister who said that she had my kitty for me. I didn't even

know what she was talking about! I'd thought that maybe the people had another home

for her by then. To be perfectly honest, I had reservations about taking on another cat by

then. I was living in this tiny little apartment and I already had 8 cats in my care. I was

afraid of not only overcrowding but also that my landlord would go ballistic when he knew

I'd added another cat. He didn't, though and I got my darling! :-)

When I got to my sister's, I was captivated! She was around 9 mos. old, at the time and

gorgeous! Then I checked out her feet. I knew she had extras but not that many! She had

24 toes total! Those extra large feet give her incredible balance. She's been known to sit

up and stand up on her hind feet alone for measureable lengths of time. She has a great

grip, too! If she wants to hold onto one of my fingers, she makes sure that finger doesn't

go anywhere!

Having those extra toes also means that she has the extra bone and muscle to operate

them. On one of those rare occasions when she decided to fight back, I got in the way of

one of her slaps. Not fun! If she'd do that more often, she wouldn't be picked on quite as

much!

Fresca is a gentle, loving kitty who'd rather holler and run when she's picked on than pick

back. Even though she outweighs most of the others and "outguns" everyone, she doesn't

much care for rough-housing. She belongs to the group of kitties that the "terrorists" (See:

Dif-"fur"-nitions) of the Bru Clan like to aggravate. My name for the group is, "The old,

the defenseless and the chicken-hearted." Fresca, of course, is the "chicken-hearted."

She doesn't have much to say any other time unless she's playing. When she's playing, she

talks up a storm! I love her voice! She sounds like a kitten! Of course, you've heard her

greeting, so you know what I mean! :-) Like with Bru, it's kind of hard to imagine that tiny

little voice being issued from such a big kitty!

Sitting up is one of her many charms. When someone approaches her and she wants some

loving, she sits up and reaches out for them. Often, if she knows that she's been spotted,

she'll also stand on those rear feet until the current object of her affection reaches her.

Then, she arches her back on the way back down. Other times, she'll come back down as

soon as she knows she's been seen. This why I don't have a picture of her sitting up, yet.

I usually don't walk around with a camera and she drops back down before I can get the

camera ready for action. Not to worry, though! I'll get one and it will be posted, here.

Fresca has always been a loving kitty but as she grows older, she's more demonstrative in

her loving. She's always given love bites and they're becoming much more frequent. This

can be unfortunate, in a way. My darling has never learned the concept of the word, "gentle."

Her love bites are precious, mind you but she does get a bit overzealous, sometimes! :-) She's

also been settling down in my lap more often and I love that! Her most recent thing is to

"attack" me from behind. This means that when I'm on the computer, she stretches from

the bed to the back of my chair and pats my back. :-) Usually, she does this from the floor.

I don't know what kind of interaction she had with people before I adopted her but she's

very nervous around new people. She may have always been shy. It sometimes takes awhile

before she's ready to greet someone new. I'm hoping that since she has her own room, she'll

overcome some of that shyness! :-) Another of her charms is that if you hold her in your arms

on her back, she'll spread all four legs for maximum belly availability! Try it! You'll both like

it! :-)

If you're cruising around in here and you hear a tiny little, "Mew!", look for Fresca. She'll

be sitting up and reaching out for you!

Adopting a new kitty isn't always tough as it can

seem to be. With lots of love and patience, your new

and established kitties could become best friends in

a relatively short period of time! Trust me on this! :-)
