The Herd's Choice Awards
We've received so many wonderful awards, the kids and I decided to make some of our own! Everyone wanted in on the act, so we split them up into "cat"egories for you to choose from. If you'd like to have one of these awards, please choose the one(s) you'd like and email me with your URL so I can check out your site. I don't get to my guestbook as often as I'd like, so please email me, OK? I hope you find one that you'd like! :-) OK, OK! So I went a little nuts with the twinkles when I was revising these! LOL I just thought they needed some major sprucing up! :-) Those of you who have already received some of these awards, let me know so I can send you the updated version, OK? :-) Note: All images are 270 X 270 and are my own creations. Images were created and enhanced using Paint Shop Pro.
Because Ripley and Bruno were the two worst cases of abuse among the Herd, they chose to represent this award. This award is for you if you have adopted an abused pet (or more) and nurtured them back to health. This is one of the few times you'll see these two get together on anything! :-)
Note: Beau was a presenter of this award, I know. She, Joli, Midnight and Image (The Original 4) will be presenting a special award directly from the Rainbow Bridge. None of them will ever be forgotten.
As the oldest and wisest of the Herd, Whiskers asked to host this one! Fresca, being the oldest and wisest among the ladies decided it was not only her duty but also her honor to join him in presenting this award! :-) They enjoy sites that are fun as well as educational. This does not mean that your educational pages have to be fun! I can see no way to make a fun page out of abuse and neither can they! They wanted to recognize those of you who work to entertain and inform, as both are important! :-)
This award is for those who have adopted pets from less than desirable situations. This can be anything from neglect to physical abuse. As Khan was in a situation where his owner could no longer care for him and Demi would have been sent to the local shelter (not a good place, here!) but for intervention, they wanted to host and award for all furkids (feather, scale, fin...we don't discriminate!) who went from rags to riches! :-)
Hazy Mist wanted to host an award for all of the great pet sites out there but she needed someone to keep her from "playing takeover." (She didn't think so but by unanimous vote among the Herd...LOL) Chester volunteered since not only does he host another award but he is one of the few cats that Hazy won't try to "bulldoze!" :-) They both would like to hand an award to anyone who has an excellent site, whether it has anything to do with cats or not so ask 'em! I'll bet they send it to you!
Lucky Stripes was found on the street with no one to claim him and insisted on hosting an award for those sites that stress responsible pet ownership. Sundown was abandoned by his owners along with 3 other pets! :-( They both want to say thanks to any webmaster who emphasizes the need for awareness of the many issues concerning animal welfare! :-) Your site must have at least one page about one or more of these issues. They won't have it any other way!
Though Sundown & Lucky Stripes' award covers Spay/Neuter in their chosen issues, Misty & Nala asked that a special award be created just for those who emphasize the need and importance for spaying and neutering. Why these two? If you've been to Tay's Babies or Nala's page, you'll know that Nala underwent back-to-back pregnancies until I brought her home. It wasn't that her owner didn't care. She did but was unable to financially cure Nala's problem. The same goes for Misty's mother. When Mimic was spayed, she was found to have severe uterine degeneration that was quickly morphing into uterine cancer! If that isn't a reason for spay/neuter, we'd like to know what is! If you put special emphasis on spaying and neutering for the health of pets, please take this award and run with it! Our hats are off to you! ;-).
Shades & Kitana both being gentle, soft hearted kitties begged me to make an award for their big-hearted human counterparts, so here it is! :-) Though neither of the girls were in situations that required human intervention, they know that most of the Herd came from such situations. They want to thank those of you who help or support animals in need (any animals, not necessarily just cats) through your site! :-)
These two, being among the clowns of the Herd wanted an award for fun sites and they got it! If they have a good time on your site, they'll be happy to send this one to you (if they can stop playing long enough!)! :-) Your site can have almost anything else on it but it has to have some fun stuff, too!
Do you have a polydactyl site? Chester and Fresca got together on this one to give hugs and handshakes (since they can) to those who love those unique babies with the extra toes! :-) Your site doesn't have to be all about polydactyl pets to get this award. All you need is to have at least one "mitten kitten" or another species "digitally enhanced" pet on your site! BUT...since polydactality is a controversial subject on the web, I will be choosy about who gets this one.
Last but not least, while I was on the phone with Mark one day, he put Gabby on the phone. She and Shakey wanted to host an award as well for those who helped others in need when they had pet related problems. Many times has Mark helped others or myself when our cats were in need of something but we weren't in a position to do anything about it. I raised Gabby for the first 2 years of her life when Mark was having troubles of his own (not trying to blow my own horn, everyone...the honor and pleasure were all mine, believe me!!). Between us, we know many others who have done similar things for people who fell on hard times but wanted to make sure their pets were cared for until they could care for the pets themselves. If you're one of those people, this one's for you as Gabby and Shakey insisted it should be! :-) *Girls, I hope that I did you proper homage with this! ;-)*
I chose Whiskers and Ripley to represent this award as they are the oldest and youngest cats in the herd. Age-wise, they cover everyone in between and that seemed appropriate to me. Even they aren't grousing about it! LOL A picture of Ripley as a kitten seemed appropriate to me as well since she caught my own heart and held it fast when she was fighting for her very life as a babycat!
All of us are participating in the choosing of this award's recipients, though! This one is for our over all favorite cat sites of any category! This one's a bit larger, folks as it took more space to get all of the paw prints on it...lol! It's 300 X 300. :-)
