We are no different from any other. We all have our tales of wonder and woe to tell. Here are a few that you might like to hear if you have the time. Pull up a chair and get comfortable. It might take a while. Once upon a time there was an akita.........................
Called Hachiko. This akita was a constant companion of a professor at the
University of Tokyo.
Each morning, Hachiko would go with his master to the train station to
see him off on the train. Each afternoon, the faithful Hachiko would return
to the
station
to welcome his master back home again.
One evening, the professor did not return on the train as usual and Hachico
waited and waited. He waited until after midnight for his master to return
as usual. But he did not return. The professor had died.
Each day for nine long years, Hachiko waited at the train station for his
absent master; each day hoping that this would be the day that his beloved
master finally came home again. Nothing anyone did could prevent him from
going to the train station to sit his vigil of devoted service.
Hachiko finally joined his master in death and failed to appear at the
station. A statue was erected to celebrate Hachiko's devotion to dury and
to his master. The breed itself was declared a national treasure.
