We are a small Caviary. We house 35-65 Cavies depending on how many sows have delivered and are nursing young. Our average adult population is about 35. We have been breeding for 3 years, since February 1997, and are a member of three clubs at present, they are: ACBA (American Cavy Breeders Association, ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) and WCF (Washington Cavy Fanciers).

We attend as many shows in the Washington, Oregon (USA) and British Columbia areas as possible.
We started off with one Cavy then visited a local Caviary and got involved helping with some of the sick Guinea Pigs. We would bring them home and nurse them back to health. After a few months we had found our numbers had increased to 4. We then purchased a few more at local shows put on by various clubs and our herd grew from there.

We have a variety of cages we use to house our Cavies. 8 of our cages consist of 109L Rubbermaid see-through tubs. These comfortably house 2 guinea pigs or one mother and her babies.   We also have 4 wire top cages (Hagen guinea pig) that are a little smaller that we use for Cavies who need to be housed separately (boars). They visit with each other through the wire as the cages are two to a shelf and are side by side. We also have two "Cavy Condos". This is a 'tower' of 5 cages, one is 18x24 which will house one Cavy or two smaller Cavies, and the other is 24x24 which houses a breeding Trio nicely or two mothers with litters..

We keep our Pedigree information in a three ring binder. The pedigree's are in plastic sleeves. These sleeves are divided by number tabs. Each cavy has a number. We keep show records, veterinary certificates, etc. inside the sleeve so all the information is kept together and easy to find. We have a cavy register program we use on the computer to keep track of our pedigrees, winnings, breeding schedules, births, deaths and sales. (Evans Software)
