Gusto's Barn Buddies
(and friends)

Dusty
- Dusty Dee Cee
- Quarter Horse gelding
- 4 years old
Their story...
Dusty is Cissy's son so naturally Gus is a bit jealous because he wasn't the father, but he still is nice to him (in hopes of getting together with his mommy). Dusty, on the other hand, loves Gusto. Whenever he sees Gus he rushes over to say 'hi'. Dusty looks exactly like his mom, minus the atittude so everyone loves him. I think Gusto knows this and so he has no choice but to put up with Dusty running around him and bucking while he is ridden in the pasture down the road.
Katie
Their story...
Katie and Gusto both feel they must be the dominant one in the herd, luckily they go out separatly. When they see each other they must behave because they are being ridden by their 'humans'. Personally I think Katie likes Gus and just doesn't want to admit it because she is quite nice to him (considering she bites the other horses and she just warns Gus). Of course Gus is a charmer and is trying to prove to Katie that he is worthy of her affection. Unfortunetly there is another 'man' in Katie's life that does not want to be outdone. I will keep you updated on this love triangle!
Clyde
-
- Paint gelding
- 14 years old
Their story...
Well I think Clyde has overtaken Manny's position. Gusto now goes out with Clyde everyday and they seem to have hit it off. Unfortuntly they do not understand that they are both geldings. Clyde has taken on the role of 'mare' and Gusto is his 'stud'. Gusto won't let any other horse near Clyde and Clyde is very attached to Gus. If I take Gusto out of the pasture to ride, everytime Clyde sees him he winnys, awe. Well at least they are getting along, which has been a hard thing for many other horses and Gusto. See Gus likes to 'hold his dominant position' in which he must beat up the others to get there if he has to, well with Clyde they got along instantly...so it's okay, I guess.
Copper
-
- Tennessee Walker gelding
- 4 years old
Their story...
Copper moved to Florida and to Gusto it wasn't a day too soon. See Gus and Copper never really got along. Copper liked Katie (as did Gusto) and well you know the story. Poor Copper wanted to be friends with Gus, but Gusto took advantage of that. One day out to pasture Gusto decided he wanted out of the enclosure they were in. Well Gusto doesnt break things and he would NEVER do anything wrong (yeah right!) so he said 'hey Copper I'm going to bite your butt really hard and you are going to run through that fence to let me out, okay?'. Copper isn't the smartest and stood there and Gus bit his butt and Copper smashed through the fence. Gusto almost got away with his plan but someone was looking and saw that Gus wasn't just a bystander. Dear Gus...
Bo
-
- Quarter Horse mare
- 6 years old
Their story...
Bo and Gusto go way back, they met each other soon after Bo was born. This was at Gusto's first barn and he went thru a phase where he liked every single mare there. Bo was not immune even though she was just a little filly. Luckily Bo was in a separate paddock so Gus couldn't 'corrupt her mind'. They met again at Willowbrook and I don't think Gus remembered his little 'crush' on Bo, well of course she got a lot bigger! Bo is Copper's 'sister' and also moved to Florida. They get to go live in the warm south where they won't have to grow thick winter coats anymore! Lucky, but then again Gus likes to grow his winter coat so it depends on who you are I guess!
Lance
- Monty's Pride
- Quarter Horse gelding
- 8 years old
Their story...
(Lance has also moved to another barn...)Lance is a BIG boy, you might not be able to tell from the picture, but when Gus and him are side to side, Gus looks TINY! It's crazy! But even though Lance is a big guy, he still lacks the attitude that the real 'big man' has(Gusto is the big man of course). See Lance doesnt like trailers (if you saw Gusto's resume you saw that Gus loves them..)well Lancy boy got into the trailer one day to go to a show, but half way to the show he decided he didn't much like the trip so he decided he would fall down. When they arrived at the show he got up, but had managed to do a good little job on his head (aka a nice little bleeding puncture wound.) Well they had to take him to the vet to get him 'bandaged up' but that required getting him BACK IN THE TRAILER. Gusto even tried to help, he went into the trailer and told Lance it was 'all good' but Lance had different ideas. Eventually, and I mean EVENTUALLY he got in and got sutured up, the cut went all the way to the bone!! He is in the process of trying to learn Gusto's "coolness under pressure attitude".
