Those
who truly know me - wonder
WHY DOES
KARREL GARDEN?
Hi - I grew
up in Pittsburg, California - this is a dismal little town in the East
San Francisco delta area. If you ever have the chance to visit there
- DON'T. Needless to say, while living there with my parents we had
a very nice yard which my mother kept. My dad spent most of his non-working
time in his tool shed. My mother felt that I should do something
to earn my money (I was an only child then) and that was pulling weeds.
Have you ever pulled weeds out of HARD, BLACK
clay??? It is not easy my friend - let me tell you! I would
turn the water hose on and let it fill up the beds and spend hours pulling
those bastards from them - and then they would just come back. My
mother loved her gardens and her fish and our animals much more it seemed
then me. Later on in life, after she was gone, I would learn the
tragedies of her life and could forgive her - but it still set me on a
life time of hating to be in the yard.
After my
1st marriage ended - gardenless and I had spent a while working on myself
and I learned to chose the right man and we bought a house full of GRASS.
He is the grandson of a horticulturist and a builder in his own right.
Together (more him than me) we embarked on the adventure of ponding &
xeriscaping (not in that order). I have put up a few pictures below.
I love Jeff & the wonderful yard & home he has made us. I
have truly been blessed.

This
is my office - it looks out to the back yard, the ponds and there is a
bird feeder now where that tiki lamp is. The first pix was taken
1996, this one of the Golden Bead was taken 10/97.

This is the side of our house - notice the transformation
it has made since Dec.1994 till Oct.1995.
