Sunshine

Sunshine

This climb, rated 5.9+ was an interesting climb. At first, I did not think that this face had holds, let alone be climbable. However, as I have soon learned, any climb is possible. This climb starts with an awkward move of which the climber starts to the left of the climb, just above a small overhand (about a foot high). The climber next proceeds left, for a move I have rated a 5.7/8. This move starts with a left foot far out. The climber puts all his weight on this hold and leans awkwardly left, grabbing into a great hold with his or her right hand, next a foot switch and a step up the wall. This start can be overted by a harder, more delicate direct start, which I have found harder, stepping directly up on the micro edges and proceding up. Now, set up for the crux of the climb. The climber must place his or her foot on a small knob. This move, a 5.9 when dry is continued with a lunge to an upper right facing crack which is a nice. However this hold is hard to find, and I think you may have as much fun as I did finding it. From here up, there are a few small footholds, but they are manageable and the handholds are also good. This is a 5.6 with a 5.9 move in between.

On the left is myself making the opening move to Sunshine. This move is very hairy at first, but very showy. The next picture is myself setting up for the crux move. The picture on the right is Chuck, compeleting the crux move with little difficulty.
