Mark Rosset slammed his hand against a wall, when playing with Martina Hingis for Switzerland. This was in Perth 1996 Hopman Cup final. They split their singles rubbers in the tie with Croatia's Iva Majoli and Goran Ivanisevic. They dominated the live mixed doubles rubber taking the first set 6-3 and led 4-2 in the second set. Croatia fought back sneaking the set in a tiebreak, but got behind a break in the 3rd set. Croatia gained the momentum, breaking back to be even at 4 all. Ivanisevic served at 4-5 and fell behind 0-40, 3 match points. On the second match point, Ivanisevic hit a second serve that appeared to be long, meaning the title went to Switzerland.However, the TEL machine apparently called it in and the point went to the Croatian team. The Croatians won the game saving 4 match points. Rosset was upset and hit his wrist against the back wall, damaging it and he needed an injury time out. He continued the match with Switzerland winning the next 2 points when Rosset hit a winner, but he could not continue. Croatia won the tie and the Championship 3-6 7-6 5-5 0-30 ret.

Benedict Tarrango and Jeff Tarrango are close behind Rosset. Jeff was upset by an incorrect over rule by chair umpire Bob, when playing the third round of the '95 Wimbledon. The wrong call was on the far sideline and I support Tarrango in questioning the umpire. The umpire then exploited his power by giving a Tarrango a warning for bad conduct. Jeff yelled " NO WAY" and said to the umpire " you are the most corrupt official in the game". He stormed off the court in protest. Although I agree with Jeff's point of view, he lost his opportunity to reach the round of 16. Before the umpire left the court, Benedict slapped the umpire's face. In the press conference, Benedict admitted that she had slapped the umpire because he 'deserved' it. Tarrango didn't play Wimbledon the following year.w
Tim Hennman was playing doubles in his home slam at Wimbledon, when he slammed a ball because of a bad line call. The ball accidentally hit a ball girl, who was chasing another ball. His partner and Tim were automatically disqualified, although Tim didn't mean to hit the girl.x
An identical incident happened with Natasha Zvereva at the '97 US Open. She was playing a tight 1st set against Pierce, when she slammed a ball that hit a ball kid. The match was held up for a length of time as the officials didn't know what to do. When play resumed Pierce won the set in tiebreak, and Zvereva lost the momentum and the 2nd set quickly.y
Natasha Zvereva and Gigi Fernandez rocked the umpire's chair and threw a paper cup at him when they lost to Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and Chanda Rubin in the Australian Open Quarter Finals. A ball which landed well out at 4-5 0-15 in the 3rd set was called in and they were upset when they lost that game and consequently the match. Thus, they were denied their chances of attempting the Grand Slam.z
Arantxa Sanchez Vicario called for the tournament referee at the '96 Australian Open Quarter final against her doubles partner, Chanda Rubin. There was an interruption of play between the first and Second serves of Rubin and the umpire called a let. Sanchez spent several minutes complaining that Rubin should not get 2 serves. It was a pointless, immature interruption of play, although Arantxa is known for her complaining. In the '95 Wimbledon final against Graf, she tried on numerous to bluff aces. She walked to the other side of the court as if she had served an ace. She concentrated on too much bluffing aces rather than trying to win the match.{
Yevgeny Kafelnikov boycotted the '96 US Open in protest because they disrespected his ranking and French Open championship. If he had won the slam, he could have been ranked 1, making 2 slams for the year.|
John Newcomb, Australia's Davis Cup Captain did not put Philipoussis in the team for the recent clash against Zimbabwe. Australia lost 3-2.}
Martina Hingis has a temper when she is not winning and she has received plenty of warnings in her career for throwing her racquet. In the '97 French Final against Majoli she used all types of gamesmanship by taking a fake injury time out and a bathroom break, which was over 7 minutes. This was to try and break Majoli's rythym.~ Goran Ivanisevic is noted for going crazy, with bad line calls. In the 1994 Australian Open, he played Aaron Krickstein in a tight tense match. After a long point in which Krickstein hitting a net cord winner, Ivanisevic smashed his racquet. He has smashed plenty of racquets in his career, but that was a big dummy spit.
The loss would have been extremely disappointing for Hingis, who was undefeated. He has the big dummy spit of all time. Croatia would have won the tie if they had continued because Majoli's performance improved as the match went on. She was extremely disappointing in her 6-3 6-0 loss to Hingis, and she was shaky in the first set and a half of the mixed. Ivanisevic helped Majoli's confidence and when they stormed back to win the second set and were on their way to winning the 3rd set until Rosset volunteered the loss.
TEL (the electrically line calling) machine makes a loud beep when the ball is 1mm out to 200mm out. The machine makes a soft beep if the ball is in. The umpire presses two buttons on the control panel to activate the service line so it calls the Service faults. The umpire releases the buttons for the rally so that any balls landing just over the service line is not called out. Jane Tabor/Harvey has had problems with the TEL system in previous occasions from not releasing the buttons, during the rally in which the machine called balls OUT where they were IN.
What happened during the tie between Switzerland and Croatia was that Jane did not press the buttons to start the point. The ball was definitely close and the machine did NOT make a mistake.
