See the little child, Playing in her yard?
She looks just like the other kids
as she runs and plays so hard
This little child is different
She will never be like them
Last night while peacefully sleeping
she got a visit from him
There's one in every neighborhood
in fact one lives on every block
He prowls around for the powerless
who's door there is no lock
He preys upon the fragile one
to satisfy his needs
and totally disregards
the tiny heart that bleeds
She wishes he would go away
and never come again
She always keeps her guard up
as she pretends to feel no pain
But life will not be the same
for the little child at play
For now she is all grown-up
But still she feels the shame--Cookie

Little girl come to me today
I need you in a special way
While you slept and stayed deep within
Things went wrong; our fun came to a end
Now I think of you again
I need your hug so very much
And your smile full of sunshine, upon my face
Your dreams so simple and light
can now come true, we can make it right
Go away nightmares of old
You can't touch this little girl, I hold
Finding many entities unfold
some free and content
others full of woe
Each with its passage of time
bringing forth feelings of every kind
some reaching out, others pushing away
a colorful collage needing to bind
But one holds back
in never ending unrest
thoughts are too black
things are not best
It can't be touched
this spirit so torn
to bring it forth
would cause it too much harm--Cookie
Peaceful spirit full of grace
cloth this soul
with satin and lace
A soul that is tattered and torn
often empty, with a sad heart
that mourns
Take away the fears
that linger with time
and wipe away the tears
Let love shower down
from heaven above
with a joyful sound
Chase hurts away
a heart renew
and give this soul a loving day--Cookie
