That Dingy 'ol place called HELP!
Well, I have been at HELP Institute for almost 2 years now. So , I've decided to put up a page specially for my classmates there.
Recently, we, Cindy, Ernest, Kenneth, Isa and I , went for a Management Simulation Game that was held at UPM, Serdang. It was a one night, two days thing. We were actually all geared up for the games, our aim being to maximise fun, not to win actually! We were all chirpy on the first day, Kenneth loosening up from his serious , 'mature' self, Isa, well, I can't say much for I don't want to get him in trouble, especially on the internet! Cindy and me singing away, and Ernest, being the CEO and 'Ah Mat' for the day, was just as busy, checking out cute 'chicks'.
By the end of the first day, after all the talks and opening ceremony, let's just say, we needed some fun! Off we went to 'ol Ernie's apartment to watch American Pie, which I should say, has got us into a really bad habit at laughing when one of us would say ' You know, there was this one time...' and needless to say, we all end up chanting '....at band camp'. While the other groups were hard at work calculating their figures , Kenneth was busy checking out the figures of the other girls! (ok, so I exaggerated on that) While the others were busy at work, we stayed up till 5.00 which turned us, well most of us at least, into walking zombies, me for one.
What we did, though, was truly a first in the history of the games. As the ' secretary', (now out of job), I will give a brief report on our progress, or rather on how our company made a loss, a very big loss!
We actually lost
not $1million but $1billion (gee, I sound like Austin Powers)in
the first round itself. I couldn't believe my eyes when the
figures came through. I stood there like a little girl counting
the zero's, and when it went pass 7 , I went 'oh-oh'. Trouble was,
we made a big mistake, which caused our company , 'La Gourmet
Earthenware Collection' , to lose big money , but which also made
the employees very happy people! See, instead of giving them 4.8%
commission, we filled up RM4800. The computer processed it as
4800%, which made us very, very poor, and they very, very rich
for every product they sold! After the second round, we were all
sitting down and wondering what was taking so long to proceed
into the next round, when the person in charge came to tell us
that the computer could not process our report due to excessive
figures! I guess we now know the reason why everyone was held up!
Oh well, what a laugh! We'll just blame the CEO! I'm just the
secretary! *grin*
-Meet this cute 'lil girl. She's so small
you'll miss her if you don't look hard enough. But then again,
she's got a lovely voice, so I don't think you'll be able to miss
her when she sings! She's really cute and funny, you'll just love
her. It was because of her actually that got us all bringing
bread to college for snacks. We have a lot in common, me and her,
that's probably why we get along fine. CINDY CHEN is
this bubbly little girl, who cannot stop laughing once you've got
her going! She does yoga and a mighty fine set of cartwheels too!
She was the Productions Manager for company. We both love to sing
, so if you don't like music, stay far far away! She has a family
of hamsters, just like me, well ,she bought 2 from me actually,
last year and fate made it so that we would be classmates this
year. She is one really interesting character full of heart and
never a mean word to say about anything!
-Now, you'd better not 'praey-praey' with
this guy! KENNETH
CHAI , Vain Ken we
call him, works out every other day, does not eat when he doesn't
understand Accounts and gets rashes when he drinks and is
extremely amused by the red spots on his body. He gets 'horny'
when it's near exams, well, which guy isn't for that matter, and
his best pick-up line, or should I say, infamous one would be 'Hey,
you owe me dinner yah, but then I'm paying'. I wouldn't know if
it works, but if you guys want to try it , go right ahead! He is
totally into his physique and his 'I'm sexy, don't you think?' ,'Mr
Macho' outlook! But once you've broken down that barrier, he is a
sensitive guy. I must thank him for standing up for me and for
coming down all the way to Ipoh to attend my 21st birthday! He
was the Marketing Director for the company! Anything you want to
'comprean' , you 'compraen' to this guy!
-There's this one time, there was this one
guy, who's known to us as Ernie, and 'cuteguy' to Kenneth (?),
who loves to emphasize on the 'T' in shiT! Meet the CEO of our
company, who is now at home, away from college for a week or so,
with a bruised eye, 4 stiches on his gum and a broken toe, due to
a really awful accident! I must give him credit for still being
able to laugh it off and for his cheerful outlook. That's ERNEST YEAP for you. Born in KL and bred(I think) in
Canada first, then back to KL, I'm surprise he calls Ipoh his
hometown. I must say his 'pick-up' lines need to be worked on as
well. Youngest of the group, and 'allergic' to Kenneth, he can't
wait for the bruise to subside, as in his words, he's 'Gonna be a
leng chai again....' He's a pretty decent guy, and from what
anyone can gather, he loves outdoor activities loads.
-Want to know more about politics? Want to
know more about anything? Ask ISA ISMAIL , a part time journalist at NST, who
took up the role as the Finance Director of the company that went
bankrupt! Isa's the best when you're right smack in the middle of
an assignment ,time is running out , and you're stuck! Just ask
Isa! I found out that Mark was Isa's classmate in primary school.
I also found out that Cindy was schoolmates with my ex-classmate.
I also found out that Ernest goes back to Ipoh during the
holidays. I find out a lot of things this year! :) Isa is my polo
mints provider. He is an intellectual guy with a personality to
go with. Want to know more? Call him...
- EMILY TAI YU YE, my housemate for the year 1997. She is
from Sabah and I found out that her best friend, Ophelia , from
Sabah during primary school was my classmate during high school
in Convent when Ophelia transferred to Ipoh in 1992. Emily is one
unique character...how many people do you know can actually kick
herself when walking? Or use shower gel to wash her face? As
blurr as she is, she will render her help when needed and is good
company when alone. We spent many nights watching Astro during
preparations for finals, knocking on each other's door every few
hours and most of all, galavanting in the city. We waited so long
for the last paper to end, and when it did, we actually had
nothing to do. We went to StarHill, but tired as we were, we didn't
quite had the energy to do any shopping. First thing we did when
we came home was sleep! Emily will enlighten you with all the
funny information she knows and will keep you on your feet with
her antics!
-CHIN WAI MING, fondly known as Ivan to most of us, was our Maths lecturer, Dr.Goh's favourite prey last year. It was either Wai Ming, Wai Ming or Wai Ming! No one else! Ivan is a laugh when he complains to you about the lecturers. Switched to Banking and Finance pathway this year, I see less of him, unfortunately. He makes really good company at our hangout 'ShahMaju' with hs grins and stories. CHIOK FOONG CHUAN, on the other hand made Dr Goh his favourite prey! The noise maker in class has something to say about everything! NG ENG HWA, the studious and polite one will always have a smile on his face. Together the 3 of them would adjourn to the little boys room during breaks. Somehow, I wonder, if there actually is a 'tearoom trade' here in HELP itself!
-My first few friends at HELP, the Au-Yong sisters, SOPHIA and MISHA are talkative and pleasant to be around. Sophia reminds me a little of Ally McBeal...it somehow is a coincidence that she is currently pursueing a law degree in the UK. Misha, however, is still at HELP studying Economics, like me! Misha is this cute little girl who suddenly appears out of nowhere in my lecture! Plus, she is stalking Kenneth! Ssh.....:)
-JOANNE KOK and RAKHEE are the distractions of Management lectures, besides Cindy of course! Rakhee is a really amusing character, she is funny and cheerful. Of course, our favourite word to say everytime she passes by is 'hierarchy'. Pronounce it good enough and it'll sound like 'Hi Rakhee!' Joanne is this sweet girl who happens to be Lee Yin, my kindergarten mate's cousin! TONY is this really nice guy whom Rakhee always bullies! And asks for rides back home! ALthough he may seem a little quiet at first, you'll find him extremely witty! JAMES, fondly known as 'Burger Guy' will without fail , rush out to buy his Ramli burger during lecture break. No wonder there is this aroma after every break. Also, there is a set of twins in my class, DANNY and EDWARD, which we are always too busy trying to figure out who's who.
