Wat Samanakot, Ayutthaya
Mr. Engelbert Kaempfer M.D., a German with the Dutch East India Company who come to Ayutthaya in 1690, has recorded there was a famous temple located on the eastern side of the city. He said that it was a large temple with an area covering two banks of the canal. The remains on bank coincide with the remnants in Wat Samanakot.

The construction canbe dated to about 14th-15th century A.D. as evidenced by the bell-shaped stupa and its base deside. Restoration took place around the 17th century A.D.
