Dear Sir or Madam:

Please arrange for the greatly deserved retirement of the 142 United States Air Force chimpanzees. The continuation of their use for "scientific research or medical purposes" must not be allowed on any terms. Many of these animals were not even bred for "research." In the 1950s the Air Force captured 65 infant chimpanzees from Africa for use in the space program. (The chimpanzees being considered today are the remaining of the captured group and their offspring.) Furthermore, acclaimed primatologists Dr. Jane Goodall and Dr. Roger Fouts believe the Air Force "has an obligation to honorably retire these involuntary recruits to a sanctuary where they can live out their lives in peace." Please make the only wise and conscientious decision-- retire the Air Force chimps!

Thank you.

Sincerely,
