"There is a growing consciousness among Australian of a
requirement
to leave the land in a batter state than we found it... the independence of
the frontier Australian gives way to the group spirit."
Dr Brian Roberts, Queensland academic
The future is not all doom and gloom and we have
already made progress. The fur trade no longer threatens koalas. Egrets are no longer
killed for their feathers. Almost extinct, the Lord Howe island Woodhen was carefully bred
in captivity and now flourishes back in its native habitat. We are slowly finding a new vision to help us protect our world for future generations. We are beginning to work together to live sustainably in order to protect the biodiversity on which we all depend. We call all do something to help whether we work in government, private industry or at home. Check out the following links. Some of them are Australian but not all. There are some exciting resources available on biodiversity. |
