Flushing Less Water

A typical American uses over 100 gal. of water before he or she even leaves for work or school in the morning.
Activities such as showering, flushing the toilet, and brushing your teeth, result in all of this water usage. Most of these activities result in water being wasted.

WAYS TO CONSERVE WATER

* take shorter showers * turn off the water while brushing your teeth * Displace some of the water in the toilet tank

Displacing water in the tank allows the toilet to use less water.

*MAKING A QUICK AND EASY WATER DISPLACER*

1) Remove the label from a plastic jug. Drop a few rocks into the container to weigh it down, fill the container with water and put the lid back on.
2) Place the container into the toilet tank being sure it does not interfere with the flushing mechanism in the tank.
3) Experiment with differnt containers. Your goal is to use the largest container that the tank will hold while still maintaing an effective flush.

Any method you use should produce a noticeably lower water bill
