From Africa, India and China to the Philippines, Burma, Thailand, Indo-China, Greater Sundas and Sulawesi. Uncommon resident throughout Borneo to 1500 m, possibly with winter visitors adding to resident populations between November and April. No proof of breeding in Borneo. Size 38 inches. Found on low trees in open pastures or in tall grass and reed beds around padi fields, freshwater and mangrove swamps, rivers and lakes. |
