Palaearctic and Oriental regions. Common passage migrant and winter visitor, on sandy beaches or gravely riverbanks, mudflats and airports to 1000 feet. Size 16 cm. Found in large mixed flocks with other waders during migration, otherwise seen singly or in small groups, feeding in shallow pools by the beach. |
