We live in an age of specialists and sub-specialists. Even philosophers. who once took
all life and all knowledge as their field now are often specialists only in philosophy in a narrow sense, in one corner of
philosophy. There are no general 'natural philosophers' in the academic community, though there are psychologists,
sociolinguists, neurolinguists, physiologists, whose specialisms ultimately can only be comprehensible as part of a
total science of human nature. Perhaps the nearest successors to the 'ancient philosopher' who took the whole of
nature as his study are to be found, as Monod(12) suggests, among the biologists, or the sociobiologists - or amongst
the exponents of artificial intelligence techniques. The most an author presenting a theory as wide-ranging as the
present one can look for is that it should be treated on its merits, not dismissed out of hand. (source)

THE SECRET DOCTRINE: THE SYNTHESIS of SCIENCE, RELIGION, AND PHILOSOPHY.

There is a battle being fought for the body, heart and soul of the world, between two utterly opposed camps.

One one side are the technophiles, the natural enemies of nature, eager to explore and make real every possible
invention of accelerating technology. Their research and development has given us medicine, transport, housing and
these computers that would have seemed godlike only a thousand years ago.

But it has also given us genetic engineering, corporate control of mass communication, pollution and wholescale
destruction of the Earth's wild places.

Not far from Man's grasp lies the power to eliminate absolutely from the planet every last trace of wilderness, and to
replace it with order and concrete. The motives for this are simple: the destruction of nature and its replacement with
man-made order will place the ancient power of the gods within the hands of the leaders of that new order, be they
national or corporate. Real physical immortality will become a reality within a very few decades, reserved, inevitably,
for the very rich and powerful.

To continue down this path can have two possible outcomes.

If successful the world will become as sterile and tidy as an office block, and its "human" inhabitants will have been
altered by whatever means necessary to be able to live within it; whether by means of drugs, genetic engineering or new
technologies yet to be imagined. There may yet be a technological fix for the ancient problem of free will. Whether you
find this possibility (and make no mistake, it is a distinct and approaching possibility) appealing or apalling is simply a
matter of personal taste.

If unsuccessful we will have destroyed the mechanisms of nature and replaced them with artificial mechanisms that do
not work. The degree of consequential devastation can only be guessed at. At the very least we will find ourselves in a
new world in which we can still survive but has become horrible to us, at the very worst the planet may have changed
so much that even our technology can no longer enable us to live upon it.

In the opposing camp are those who can see the two ends of the path and behold each with equal horror. Each means
the destruction of the wild nature that has been a part of mankind's soul since he was born into the world, and even for
a new Homo Technicus to live placidly in a world made tame would seem to them to be the equivalent of putting our
entire brain-dead species on a life-support machine for ever.

The technophiles hear the arguments of the champions of the wilderness and they hear sentimentality and nostalgia from
the usual crowd of Luddite bleeding-heart liberals.

The champions of the wilderness see the logical conclusion of the technophiles' accelerating progression and they see
the death of the soul of mankind, and of the soul of the world. Whether they know it or not they are fighting for the
goddess, and whether they see him or not at the head of their scattered bands is the horned god.

Whose side are you on?

(source) There is a Hopi Indian prophecy which relates to this emerging Planetary culture. Amidst various other prophecies which have been evidently fulfilled -such as 'iron horses' and the 'cobwebs which stretch across the sky' of the above-mentioned technologies- is this passage:
'When the Earth is sick and the animals have disappeared, there shall come a new tribe formed from all cultures and all races, to heal the earth. This tribe shall be called the 'Warriors of the Rainbow'.
It is vitally important that the Hopi prophecy of the Rainbow Warriors be maintained as what it originally meant -Unity in Diversity, and acceptance thereof.

Technology is also doing many wonderful things for us and our planet; offering incredible developments in medical
science and global communications. Recent discoveries in genetics, suggesting this field will advance in the next ten
years at the rate computer technology has advanced in the last ten years, offer the possibility that science may allow us
to reshape our very flesh and forms sooner than we deemed possible. I believe the implications of 'beyond technology'
in 2012, the end-date of the Mayan calendar, are that we shall move through technology into the next paradigm. Our
technology will develop until we can create practically any physical reality we desire. At the point at which we realise
this infinite potential, we will become aware of our inherent divinity and realize we don't actually need any tools to do
this. 'Technology' will become obsolete as we transcend the materialist paradigm.

It is the division between science and magick, beginning with the 'age of reason' when industry and 'rationality'
began their assault, that has been largely responsible for the current planetary crisis. Material practicality has sacrificed
aesthetics and mythology in the quest for mundane comfort and conformity. But gradually this duality is being
transcended. 'Science' is beginning to acknowledge possibilities that have long been known in the world of magick.
Quantum physics, chaos theory and the like allow the random factors and perspective leaps that have long been
confined to the realms of mysticism. Similarly, magick is becoming more 'scientific', refining its methodology,
embracing the chaos/quantum paradigm, and employing modern technology as another magickal tool. This synthesis
advances the process towards 2012, by which time we should totally transcend the science/magick dualism. From our
current state of lingering division it is difficult to fully appreciate this concept. Perhaps our technology will develop to
an extent where we can manipulate matter instantly with our minds -magick! "Any sufficiently advanced technology is
indistinguishable from magic" -Arthur C. Clarke
What is technology? Basically- tools, extensions of the human body withwhich we manipulate our environment. From
stone axes to microchips, it's all technology at various degrees of advancement. What is 'natural'? Are we, as animals,
seperate from nature? Does our use of tools differentiate us that much? There is often talk of humankind 'destroying
nature' as if we are seperate from it. I'm not advocating wanton abuse of earthly resources. I'm sure our realization and
reformation of the abuse already perpetrated is also part of the 'natural' process. Or perhaps it's natural for us to wipe
ourselves out?

According to the Mayan calendar, we are in the last baktun, Baktun 13 from 1992-2012. Their calendar ceases on the
solstice of 2012, December 21st. What does this 'end of time' portend? Does it mean the destruction of our planet?
Apocalypse? Natural disaster?
Perhaps, and yet the Mayans herald it as the time for 'The Return of Kukulkan'. Called Quetzalcoatl by the Aztecs,
Kukulkan is the major deity of the Ancient Mayan civilization. His name means 'feathered serpent', an obvious
metaphor for the kundalini energy. Kundalini is the 'serpent power' which resides in our nervous systems, rising up
the spine to provide inspiration and illumination (the wings unfold at the crown of the head). It exists in almost every
ancient culture. The caduceus, snake-entwined winged staff of the Greek Messenger of the Gods, Hermes, has been
appropriated by western medicine. It has always been a symbol of Magick and healing. In Hindu and Vedic traditions,
the male and female serpents Ida and Pingala entwine the central 'sushumna' axis of our spine, weaving between the
'spinning wheels' of our chakras. In his book Hunbatz Men gives evidence of ancient Mayan clay figurines with four
dots at the base of the spine, six at the navel, etc. -the numbers of dots at each of these 'power centres' corresponding
with the amount of 'petals' on each chakra in the Hindu system! The return of Quetzalcoatl, Hunbatz claims, is a
metaphor for the activation of the chakras and the rising of the kundalini. The biblical flood when Noah apparently built
his ark was a proven historical event. The next 'apocalypse' is supposed to be by fire. Won't it be nice if this is
metaphysical kundalini 'fire' rather than literal ecological cataclysm?
What does this 'return of Quetzalcoatl?' imply? Kundalini rising in many? i.e. awakening of the collective
consciousness and mass enlightenment?

Is this to be the return of Quetzalcoatl then? The rise of the microcosmic serpents in our spines, and of the great serpents
of the Earth? In many ancient cultures the rise of the great serpent signifies the 'end of the World' or the 'end of time',
ie big changes. To the Australian Aborigines the rise of the Rainbow Serpent signifies the end of the World. The Norse
(who also apparently prophecied the coming of 'rainbow warriors', although I have yet to find evidence of this) told of
Ragnarok, the battle of the Gods at the end of the World, when the chaos wolf Fenris consumes the sun and the
Midgard Serpent, the great snake encircling the World Tree (Yggdrasil), rises. This tail-biting serpent was called
Oroboros by the AncientGreeks and Tiamat by the Babylonians.

In Qabbala, the underlying esoteric tradition behind what became the biblical exoteric religion of Christianity, there is
a formula called Tetragrammaton. This is a four-lettered (tetra=four) word for God in the ancient Hebrew Alphabet:
YHVH -but it is also a magickal formulae for four successive aeons. As the Qabbala apparently has its roots in Ancient
Egyptian Lore, these aeons each bear an Egyptian deity as their symbolic 'figurehead' or title. The first letter, Yod,
represents Osiris, the 'He(h)' Isis, the 'Vau' Horus and the final 'He' Maat: The father, the mother, the son and the
daughter.

The Aeon of Isis, the Matriarchy, actually preceded that of Osiris despite the apparently contradictory order of the
letters YHVH. This was the first actual 'aeon' of history, or more accurately at this point, 'herstory'. Not much was
recorded yet, but civilization had definitely begun. The Mother, Goddess of Fertility, reigned as agriculture started. The
moon and the Earth were worshipped and venerated as sacred Goddesses, basic pagan culture flourished.

Then gradually the Patriarchy came in. The advent of the solar calendar brought in the Aeon of Osiris, the father.
Solar pagan cults flourished. Organized religion began. Christianity began its slow spread across the world, becoming
eventually the dominant paradigm as it displaced the old world mythologies and pantheons with its monotheistic dogma
of 'one (male) God'. Simultaneously we saw the rise of materialistic scientific rationalism and the advent of
industrialization. Technology began to progress at an accelerating rate, and art became submerged beneath this
onslaught of practicality. Magick became esoteric, occult, hidden. Ritual, the dance of the common people with the
elements during the matriarchy, became the cloistered province of the patriarchal priesthood. Those few who continued
the ancient ways did so in secret, fearing the wrath of the fundamentalist church and its inquisitions.

MIlenial thinking, astrology, entry into a new age.

The present vernal equinox is above the "pool of siloam." A Good Samaritan carrying a pitcher of water runs toward
this place called now, with the compassionate understanding, "I Know."

This is the dawning of
the information age. Can there be any doubt that the next hundred years will see information processing techniques
evolve at a rate that will make every bit of important human knowledge available in each home by turning on a
television-computer monitor. When the flood of information hits us we will be swamped, unless we pay attention.

That which is driving use toward the inundation of an informational flood is the capacity to use the resources which are
given to us. Like Capricorn using her horns to drive Aquarius toward the pool of siloam, the spirit of "I Use" will
manipulate compassion into information that can be utilized. Does it make any sense to call the vernal equinox the 1st of
Aries when the event occurs in Capricorn? By then the astrologers will have surely realized that they must stop the
esoteric bull excrement from flowing in their lines of cosmic communication. The lines of communication will become
exoteric again, and the children who properly understand the message of Capricorn will utilize the belief and knowledge
gained by the experience of life to proceed toward spiritual fulfillment and wisdom. This is the gift to God given by
successful living. That is why the ancients called Capricorn the gift to God at Heaven's Gate.

It is critical to realize that the Samaritans were people who lived in what is called
Northern Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, today. It was the north region of Palestine including the Sea of Galilee, and
they were variously called Gentiles, Galileans, Samaritans, and Nazarenes. It is vitally important in understanding the
evolution of Western Civilization and Western Theology to recognize the role these people played in restructuring the
spiritual environment of the Western World. In the cosmic perspective, the verses in Luke are describing the
resuscitation of human civilization after the destruction which began to take place after the end of the Bronze Age
between 1225 BC and 1175 BC after the decimation of the Egyptian Empire. According to Ernest L. Martin in The
People That History Forgot (pg. 33), Samaritans became active after the destruction of the "Ten Tribes" of Northern
Israel by the Assyrians. Martin cites the Bible (II Kings 17:24-41) indicating that the Samaritans were not Jews. These
people were returned from Assyria where the Zoroastrian religion of the Persians was dominant. This religious influence
explicitly utilized the zodiac constellations to tell the story of creation and life. Many "synagogues" have been found in
Samaria with the zodiac circle prominently displayed on ceilings and floors. Samaritans declared themselves to be of
Jewish descent, but the Bible declared them to be idolaters in II Kings 17:24-41; So these nations feared the LORD,
and served their graven images, both their children, and their children's children: as did their fathers, so do they unto
this day. This is a statement that the Samaritans accepted the Jewish deity, but utilized graven images in their services.

"The Unconscious Civilization" by John Ralson Saul.
look into
sounds like the opposite of the kind of conscious civilization I am interested in

"I believe that there could be nothing more absurd than to think that our modern scientific
methodology could ever eliminate the poetic and mythic, for science is closed against certain
dimensions of the real which only myth and the poetic can attain. It is the height of absurdity to
imagine that scientific 'knowledge' exhausts reality ! " (source) Albert Einstein, who said " Science without religion is lame; Religion without science is blind."

In the theories of the eminent Swiss psychologist, Karl Jung, the fantasies of the collective
unconscious stem from the actual experiences of ancient ancestors, and the development of
prehistory as a serious field of study is of considerable importance to the creators of myth. Certain
facts exist in human history, and these are most often found hidden in myths. I have even been led
to muse on the fact that the usual depiction of the double helix representing DNA is remarkably
similar to the ancient depiction of the serpents guarding the world tree, a figure still found in the
caduceus.

In Jung's view, the snake, as a chthonic and at the same time spiritual being, symbolizes the
unconscious. In particular, according to Jung, the symbolism of the snake's has sudden and
unexpected manifestations and painful or dangerous intervention in human affairs often has
frightening effects. Crucial to the understanding of the serpent as a libido symbol is a consideration
of the biological characteristics of the actual creature. Jung stresses the fact that the snake is a
cold- blooded vertebrate and with that fact alone the true psychic rapport that can be established
with practically all warm-blooded animals comes to an end. Like the Gnostics of early Christianity
who identified the serpent with the human medulla and spinal cord, Jung regards the serpent as the
psychic representation of the profoundly unconscious functions which are governed by these
organs. I think that perhaps this is why the serpent is so often seen as a divine creature, a sort of
god which lies behind all human functioning.
