The book’s 297 Pages begin with the Katipunan, the Army of the First Philippine Republic. It continues with the Philippine American War, The Second World War, up to the present day Philippine Army.

Each of the seven chapters were written by distinguished Filipino writers and historians with many photographs and illustrations.

The jacket illustration of the front shows an artist’s depiction of the Battle of Binakayan, 9 November 1886. After seven hours of fighting, Spanish cazadores were defeated by Filipino troops led by Generals Artemio Ricarte, Santiago Alvarez and Mariano Riego de Dios.
