Christmas is a wonder and a magic, meant to cheer the heart, not argue with the mind. Christmas makes us add a touch of color to our everyday rooms and everyday life. Christmas makes us turn from our electric incandescence back to candles. Candles cast a very small light, but it is a light by which we may see one another's inner worth and beauty.
President's Message: I want to thank the executive board for the fine support and cooperation given me during my term of office. Many innovations were very successful this year thanks to the club's willingness to accept new ideas. I feel that this has been one of the most successful years of our club, and I thank all of you for your encouragement and inspiration.
Sincerely
Chuck Arella
At the December meeting we will again have an exchange of gifts (like we did last year), with a man bringing a gift for a man, and ladies will bring a gift for another lady, each gift not to exceed $3.00 in price.
Our Annual Election of officers will take place at this meeting.
The next Executive Board meeting will be December 21 at the home of Chuck Arella, with both incoming and outgoing boards being present.
AFA Bird Enthusiasts - here's your chance to combine a visit to one of the West Coast's most famous cities - San Francisco, and to hear some of the most respected speakers in the field of aviculture. These speakers from all parts of the USA will gather to participate in a schedule crammed with learning, sharing, good food, warm hospitality and just plain fun. February 16, 17, and 18th, at the San Francisco Airport Hilton. (More about this later.)
Did you know that Christmas in Denmark is for the birds? If you don't think so, watch the Danes lovingly hang juleneg (wheat sheaves) along their boulevards and in their gardens to pamper their feathered friends with this delectable holiday treat.
I wish to take this opportunity to thank all the exhibitors for making our 18th Annual Show the biggest one yet. And a special big thank-you goes to those sixteen people who gave up their Thanksgiving evening to set up; and to those few who stayed until everything was swept, vacuumed and mopped afterward. We even had a couple of non-members who pitched in to help clean up - even an out-of-town judge! Trying to thank each one individually for his part in the success of this year's show I'm sure I would miss someone. You each know what you did and for that I thank each of you.

In this - my last edition of the 1979 Newsette - I would like to thank all of you for electing me your editor for the year. I have tried to give you interesting, informative, news-worthy, educational, some humor, and yes - even some inspirational messages. I apologize for the irregular printing problems I have had. I have hopes that the next year will bring even a better printing system for the club's use. In this December issue I am grateful to those of you who have given me kind words and to those who have brought items of interest.
God bless you all--
have a Happy Holiday
