Santa Clara Valley Canary & Exotic Bird Club
Santa Clara High School Cafetorium
Meeting January 11, 1976
Pot-luck 1:00 P.M.       Meeting 1:45 P.M.

Dear Members,

The New Year is here and with it comes the installation of officers, and committee appointments at this our first meeting of the year.

Our president Allan Thompson, has many interesting ideas for the coming year's programs, possibly a bus trip to San Francisco Zoo, covering behind the scenes in the bird world at the zoo. Also some very knowledgeable speakers, plus many workshop sessions, which were so interesting in the past.

Would like to see all members attend this meeting to support their elected officers. At this time we'd like to wish the in-coming officers success in the coming year.

DUES are DUE. To be a member in good standing dues are to be paid by Feb. 15. There will be a new club roster printed in March and those not paid up will not be on it. Please pay by Feb. 15, so you can recieve the newsletter and know what is happening in your club. If you can't make the meeting mail dues to Delilah Quieto or Phil Dubois. The 1976 bands should be here but you must be a paid up member first in order to receive bands.

A very special welcome to the many, many new members. We will have a special orientation for all new members and honor them at a special table, (during the pot luck) hosted by Chuck Arella. He is your Board Member elect. He will discuss with you the years activities and the goals of the club.

Leonard Quieto will be our speaker and at this time of the year he will be talking on preparation of your birds for the coming breeding season.

"HELLO" My name is "LITTLE BIRD" and from time to time I will relate to you interesting "tib-bits" of what's happening between my fellow feathered friends and myself, but to start the new year I'd like to have some people to people talk and recite a poam by Jack Simms.

"Are you an active member - the kind that would be missed,
Or are you just content that your name is on the list?
Do you attend the meeting and mingle with the flock?
Or do you just stay at home - and criticize and knock?
Do you take an active part and help the work along?
Or are you satisfied to be the kind to just belong?
Do you ever voluntarily help at the guiding stick?
Or leave the work to just a few and talk about the clique?
Come out to the meetings, and help with hand and heart.
Don't be just a member, but take an active part.
Think this over, member, You know right from wrong.
Are you an active member? Or do you just belong?"
