For the benefit of members who have never entered a bird in a Show, we will have a demonstration of the correct procedure: placement of perches, waterers, etc. We would like members to bring a bird in a show cage for demonstration purposes.
By now, you should have your birds selected for the Show and getting them used to the small show cage. It is a good idea to mist the birds with water every day, but stop two days before the show. The birds should be allowed to fly in a large cage or small flight every other day. Don't forget to cut nails! So, you've got your birds in show condition - sitting on the perch like little kings ... and then you're off to the show. Don't louse up everything you've done!!! Cover your birds in the car so they'll feel secure. No quick starts and stops if you can help it! Remember you have a fragile little thing in a small cage and he'll be banged all over the place. Besides the danger of broken tail feathers, he may never recover well enough to really show for the judge.
SHOW STAGING will be set up Wednesday evening Nov 24th at the School. We would like as many people as possible to show up at 6:30 p.m. Last year we had a good turn out and had the staging all finished in an hour and a half.
The next Executive Board Meeting will be held at the Hansel Home in Los Altos - Friday December 3rd 7:30 P.M.
1983 Canary Bands can be ordered now from Leonard Quieto.
Santa Clara Valley Canary & Exotic Bird Club Show - Nov 26 - 27 - 28th. Local entries Friday Nov 26th 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
SELL THOSE RAFFLE TICKETS
We always have an Auction & Raffle at the Show. This is an important money maker for the Club. We have to have the full cooperation of our members for this project. Donations are needed badly. The items you donate are limited only by your imagination. Of course, BIRDS are first on the list. Other suggestions may be: cages and/or equipment; book; pictures; plants, etc. Scrounge around and find those items you don't want (last years Xmas present???). Someone might want it dearly and bid good money for your "also rans". This is your club and I know you want the Show to be a huge success.
Members and/or exhibitors will be able to sell birds at the Show. There will be a $10.00 fee for the seller's table. Birds may be sold on Sunday only. A bill of sale must be given for each bird sold.
Reservations for the banquet may be made with me or Ron Mercer. Steak $12.50 - Chicken $9.65.
There will be a guard on duty at the school Saturday night.
