OBITUARIES: Charlotte LeDoux, member of SCVC for many years, former vice-pres.; former newsletter editor; Parliamentarian; first Parliamentarian for the American Federation of Aviculture and still holder of that office at the time of her death. Champion of the Domestic canary, first to take novices under her wing and eager to teach all she had learned about breeding birds, happy to give phone consultation any time one had a problem with a bird, though, once she counted you as a friend, you were expected to check the football schedule before making her phone ring in order to avoid interfering with her passion for the game. As of the last week of August, 1984, Charlotte has prime seats for ALL the games. Happy score-keeping, Charlotte.
Bill Cooper, member of SCVC for many years, former Secretary; also bred Domestic canaries as well as Opals and, with his partner Mel Culross, Australian (and some African) finches. Has been ill for the past year until, on Sept. 19, 1984, he lost the fight to a brain tumor. Bill loved the competition of the bird shows as well as the brotherhood of bird breeders. Another friend I'll miss.
FOR SALE: Sterling Silver charms: Macaw $20.00 ($5.00 paid to the club) Cockatoo $15.00 (with $3.00 paid to the club.) I've seen these and they ARE charming. Christmas is coming, Folks. How about picking up a delightful present for someone and at the same time, gaining a few bucks for the club treasury. Call Frank Cortese.
SELLING OUT: All Colorbred and Yorkshires. The BLACKWELL FAMILY Yorkshires have won many awards and are widely acknowledged to be one of the best Type canary lines in North America. We currently have about 65 Yorks and would like to fine ONE BUYER to take the complete line in one sale. The award-winning colorbreds number approximately 190-200 birds and include a variety of melanin mutations such as Bronze, Brown, Agate, Isabel, Pastel, Opal and Satinette in both red and rose ground, as well as gold and silver pastels and opals. We would also like to find one buyer for all the colorbreds. Please call to make an offer - of course, arrangements can also be made to see the birds. (Please don't call if you want us to "spare" a bird or two - we hope to find one buyer for each line so this will be as painless as possible.)
