Next Board Meeting: Friday, September 28 7:30 P.M Margaret Roche's Home.
Program: Prep for Show Times. How to get the birds ready. How to pick the best ones. Show cages discussed and demonstrated. We have canary show cages: Red Factor and Border to demonstrate. Will somebody bring along Gloster, Yorkshire cages. Believe Bud Reller will bring along a Budgie cage (& Budgie?) Does someone have the official Cockatiel cage? We won't require it for our show this year but some of the shows have started to require it and we might as well all see what they are supposed to be. We'll also have some canaries to demonstrate good and bad points. How about you finch & hookbill folks ringing along a bird to demonstrate the same?
Advance warning: October meeting will be an In-House feather show. That is a training show for birds and humans. We'll pass out score cards and let each member judge the birds and then compare with the official judges ruling. That's the way to learn, PRACTICE!
SADNESS NOTE: The August meeting is always rather poorly attended due to vacations and such, so many of you may not have heard the unhappy news that we lost George Santos to a sudden massive heart attack in August. It was quick and totally unexpected, perhaps the way George would have wanted it if he'd had the choice, but shattering for Laverne who has had George as part of her life for 49 years. Our deep sympathies, Laverne, we'll miss him too.
Why do my notes include a scribble that says: Rosemary Pestani Hayward or Alameda Lizards? Sorry, can't remember what that means but it was on the newsletter tablet, so I must have been supposed to tell you something about her, it or them. Hope it answers someone's question.
QUESTION BOX: Apparently everyone at the August meeting already knew everything 'cause we had no questions for the box. Try again in September.
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
In this issue of the newsletter we are publishing the Show staff
and Workers for our upcoming 1984 Show. If you find your name left
off of an area you would like to participate in, please contact
Margaret Roche as soon as possible and she will make the necessary
corrections. Also, if you are unable to serve any area where your
name is indicated, let us know that information also.
And just a word about the awards this year - the GRAND AWARDS are all going to be Cut Glass Lead Crystal, and they are really beautiful. We will also have some new awards that have not been listed before in our catalogue so all in all it looks like its going to be a very exciting Show!
