How RAID Affects Disk Access Speed:

RAID speeds up disk read times, because when data is read, part can be read
from one drive, and part can be read from another. Multiple drives working
synchronously reduces overall read time.

However, RAID actually slows down disk writing, because data must be written
to all drives in the array.
