The Cardasian people were a poor people and Cardasia Prime had run out of resources. To survive the population put the military in charge. This military dictatorship is very popular with the Cardasian people as it does bring food and other natural resources back to Cardasia Prime.
Cardasians attacked the Federation and war ensued. Finally a very uneasy truce was signed with the Federation. Knowing that the prime directive would keep the Federation out of any war Cardasia started, they invaded Bajor.
The Cardasians used the Bajorans as slave labor and many of the Cardasian military officers took Bajoran women to bed with. The occupation lasted for 50 years and was stopped soley by the Bajoran underground.
After the Bajorans had retaken their planet they realized that they weren't strong enough to defend their planet against another attack so they asked the Federation for help. Commander Seisko was ordered to take command of Tarok Nor, a Cardasian Space Station orbiting Bajor. The station was renamed Deep Space Nine.
Eventually to get their military back to strength the Cardasians allied themselves with the dominion from the Gamma Quadrant. This gave Gul Dukat the ability to break the truce and attack Deep Space Nine. On Seisko's recomendation Bajor signed a none aggression pact with the Dominion to keep them out of the war. Dukat did succeed in retaking Deep Space Nine. However Seisko and the other Federation personal allied with the Romulans and Klingons and retook the station, forcing all the dominion and Cardasian troops back into Cardasian space. The war is at an uneasy cease fire, but how long can it last?
