SUPERNOVA 2005XX IN NGC 4012. Odd Trondal and Michael Schwartz report the TOSS discovery of an apparent supernova (mag about 16.5) on unfiltered Tenagra II 0.81-m images taken on January 16.40 UT AND January 17.42. The new object was not detected in an earlier image taken on January 21.38 2004 UT (limiting mag about 19.0). SN 2005XX is located at R.A. = 11h 58m 28.54s, Decl. = +10o 01' 09.2" (equinox 2000.0), which is 13.6" east and 7.4" south of the nucleus of NGC 4012.
