FILM REVIEWS

Film: "Alien 3" (1992).
Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) has survived the battle that destroyed the alien colony on planet LB-426. En route to Earth, the spaceship malfunctions and crashes onto the surface of a prison planet, where the only inhabitants are a group of embittered male prisoners. Ripley soon discovers that her only surviving companions, Newt and Hicks, have perished during the trip. Worse still, one of the aliens has escaped destruction and is loose on the prison planet - a world in which weapons have been forbidden, and the only defence the humans have is their own ingenuity.
This is a much darker film than the first two Alien movies, and is, in a sense, far more disturbing. The special effects are wonderful, and the chase scenes are intense and absorbing. I was disappointed by the ending, but that may be because I prefer the happily-ever-after type endings, and Alien 3 certainly does not supply that. This is not a movie for children, but is, overall, a good movie for those who enjoy horror / alien movies.
