FILM REVIEWS

Film: "Death Becomes Her" (1992).
Madeline Ashton (played by Meryl Streep) is an ageing actress obsessed with beauty and looking young. Her college friend Helen Sharp (played by Goldie Hawn) comes to visit her after one of her plays and brings her fiance Dr. Ernest Menville (played by Bruce Willis), a renowned plastic surgeon, for Madeline to meet. Helen has much hostility and jealousy towards Madeline because she is plain and mousy-looking while Madeline is beautiful and sexy. Madeline has stolen Helen's boyfriends in the past and Helen feels insecure about her fiance meeting her "friend" Madeline. The next scene is that of a wedding: Ernest and Madeline getting married. Helen freaks out!
Fourteen years later, after Madeline has aged dramatically, her make-up advisor gives her the name of someone who can bring back her youth if "money is no object". She goes to a sinister-looking mansion and meets Lisle Von Rhumans (played by Isabella Rossellini), who, for a price, gives Madeline a potion which gives her eternal youth and life.
This movie has fantastic special effects, and the make-up is remarkable. I especially liked seeing Goldie Hawn in an asylum for the insane, weighing over 200 pounds. This movie is hilarious and kept me entertained. Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn are superb!
