Film: "Diggstown" (1992).
Gabriel Caine (played by James Woods), a con man, gets released from prison where he promoted boxing. He comes to the small town of Diggstown supposedly by chance. The town is named after a heavyweight champion boxer who was called Diggs, who was afflicted with brain injuries in his last bout. Woods gets challenged to a bet by the man who owns the town, everything and everyone in it, John Gillion (played by Bruce Dern). Gabriel bets the greedy Gillion that "Honey" Roy Palmer can outbox ten men in twenty-four hours. Caine enlists the aid of his longtime friend and ageing boxer, "Honey" Roy Palmer (played by Louis Gossett Jnr) a former heavyweight boxing champion for this ultimate confidence trick . They benefit from the help of friend Fitz (played by Oliver Platt) who set the stage for the con. Caine says, "Don't ever con a con man." Just who is conning whom? This is a "stand-up-and-clap-for-the-good-guys" movie! A cross between "Rocky" and "The Sting." It is very entertaining with a surprise ending!
