Film: "Ed Wood" (1994).
Only one of Hollywood's most successful eccentrics could make a film about one
of its least successful eccentrics and in doing so create a beautiful tribute
not to the man but to the medium. The Plan 9 auteur and oft-labelled worst
director of all time, is here handled with love and respect both by Burton and
the note perfect undying enthusiasm of Johnny Depp's portrayal. Martin
Landau's Bela Lugosi won the Oscar, while Bill Murray all but steals the show
in his cameo. A glorious homage to the power of film in general and one of
Burton's finest moments.
