More gavel-bashing and jury-boggling with Matt Damon stepping into the idealistic young firebrand briefs warmed by Chris O' Donnell and Matthew McConaughey before him. Landing employment with the moderately murky Mickey Rourke, Damon toils at the seedier end of the legal game until discovering a back catalogue of claim dodges by insurance giant Great Benefit, and resolves to take them on. Following the formula, there's courtroom grandstanding, emotive strands and comic relief/romance sub-plots, but little evidence of Francis Ford Coppola's flair in a flatly routine legal drama.
