Film: "Sphere" (1998).
Based on Michael Crichton's sci-fi novel about a shimmering sphere discovered
in a spaceship, lying deep under water, which gives form to people's inner
thoughts. Director Barry Levinson follows the interplay between the scientists
faced with this strange outer-world force and elicits fair performances from a
strong cast that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Sharon Stone, Peter Coyote and
Dustin Hoffman, in his fourth film for the director after Wag the dog,
Sleepers and the Oscar-winning Rain Man.
