WHAT IS GEOBUILDER? |
|

GeoBuilder is an online web page generator that allows the user to create text, select images from a personal file directory or objects from various menus,and place them anywhere on a page, using a drag-and-drop technique.
GeoBuilder features a wide selection of editing tools, including a text editor that can used to create regular text in a variety of fonts, sizes and colors, or HTML text. Objects can be copied and pasted, duplicated, modified, deleted, linked, and uploaded. The Insert menus offers extras to spice up your pages: search boxes, a counter, Gadgets, Things and other Add-Ons. |

Most of the functions listed on the blue toolbar are also listed in other locations, such as File, Edit, and Insert. There is no difference in the performance of the function in one or the other location. |

GEOBUILDER'S CODE FORMAT |
|
|
|
GeoBuilder uses a high-level, nonstandard code format that is unique to GeoBuilder. A web page created with GeoBuilder cannot be successfully edited and saved in a standard HTML editor without corrupting this format. |
|
|
|
This means it is not permissable to use any of the File Manager editors on a GeoBuilder page. The File manager editors are standard HTML editors and are not compatible with GeoBuilder page code. You can use all the features of the GeoCities File Manager except EDIT and SAVE. |

|
LIMITATIONS |
|
|
|
Text cannot be copied from outside GeoBuilder and pasted into the GeoBuilder text editor. GeoBuilder text can be copied and pasted into the text editor, however. |
|
|
|
At this time, it is faster to use the EZ Upload feature in the File Manager to upload files for your web site. You can upload as many as 20 at a time there. |
|
|
|
GeoBuilder's performance varies according to the browser and the version of the browser you are using. If Internet Explorer is not working for you, try Netscape. GeoBuilder does not seem to work too well with Windows 98, no matter what browser you use. |
|
|
|
Very large pages may cause a variety of errors and problems. It is advisable to limit the page size to 22000 bytes (see the size of your pages in your File Manager directory) and to use .gif graphic files rather than .jpg. |
|
|
|
During peak usage hours, GeoBuilder may run slower than normal, or be difficult to open, due to the load on the GeoCities servers. It is best to avoid working in GeoBuilder between 6:00 and 9:00 PM EST and certain time periods on weekends. You'll soon figure out when is the best time to use GeoBuilder. |

|
|
GeoBuilder has an HTML text editor that allows you to put simple HTML tags on your web pages. It was not designed to handle Javascript and Applets. GeoBuilder will delete or mistranslate much of this kind of code, leaving you with a Frankenstein twin of what you were expecting to see. It's not a pretty sight, and sometimes it affects the entire page.

GeoBuilder does not accept: frames, forms, mp3. |

At this time you cannot edit Yahoo Page Builder pages in GeoBuilder, and vice versa. |

|
Contrary to what it may say on certain GeoCities pages, AOL users can use GeoBuilder. For help with that, visit GeoBuilder Central and talk to the experts. |
