Modelling the Top Spindle
By
Pat Connelly

This piece was my most difficult piece to model before I used Organica.
I have done a little real woodworking but I still could not figure a way to use the
typical imagine tools.  Any suggestions?  With Organica it is trivial.  I
used 4 negative spheres to remove / carve out the symmetrical notches I needed.  The
central disk keeps the bottom flat and the middle piece full.  To see what I mean,
you need to remove it and compare both meshes.

I saved it to a dxf as this was the demo version.  I imported the
dxf and then repositioned the axis as well as scaled it to fit the object.  Then I
used the transformation requestor to resize the way too big object to scale.

Finally, I added a small disk at the bottom which was needed to complete
the piece.  I probably should have put this piece on the main spindle but I really
did not know what I was doing when I decided where to end the main spindle.  No big
deal, as it works both ways.  I joined the two objects and above is the completed
piece.
