This tutorial is based on Paint Shop Pro, a graphics program by Jasc Software.  We assume the viewer is reasonably familiar with the use of the various drawing tools and menus in that program.

This tutorial will help you make a simple background image which you can use in your email program if it supports HTML.   We will have additional tutorials using layers soon.

Now......let's begin!!!

Start by creating a background image, solid black, 1024x350.  This is a convenient size to use for 17" monitors both in email and on web pages.  This will be the background layer.

Select your image (we will be using a rose) and Edit/Copy it.

2.jpg (27081 bytes)

Paste this copy onto the background as a new layer and move the pasted image to the left side.

3.jpg (33417 bytes)

From the main menu select Layers/New raster layer

4.jpg (8959 bytes)

Again paste the copied image onto this layer repeatedly moving to the right.
Now from the layers palette box reduce the opacity of this last layer to around 50%

5.jpg (23553 bytes)

Now merge the layers

6.jpg (32835 bytes)

Here is what you should have now

7.jpg (31415 bytes)

Now save this image file under some name that you like.  It is now a good image to use as a background for your email.
