DAVETV visits the Peel Pub 1

Back in September '96, the legend himself, DAVETV graced our very own Peel Pub with his presence along with QUARK for an afternoon. I was informed by QUARK a few days prior through e-mail that they would visit Peel Pub for a few games of NTN. I arrived around mid-afternoon and took one walk around the Peel Pub (Cripes.. PP should pay me for all this free advertising *grin*). Immediately, I saw someone with 4 NTN machines despite PP's one playmaker per player rule & knew right away it was DAVETV. LASHER showed up a few minutes after I did & joined us.

Over the next two hours or so, a few things were settled, a few rumours were laid to rest. It's clear that quite a few people who rank in the Top 20 split their answers.. with one answer on one machine & another on another machine. Contrary to what others might think, DAVETV didn't do that.. at least not when he was here. Sure, he's got multiple machines but, from what I saw, he puts the same answer on all of them. I guess some habits are hard to break. When I had some problems with my playmaker, he was more than willing to give up one of his own without hesitation.

There's talk of repeat games/questions. From my observation, DAVETV gave out answers freely along with numerous possible alternatives even before the answers appeared on the screen.

I can truthfully say that he's the best NTN player that I've seen so far. He knows his trivia, that's for sure & came across, in my opinion as a nice guy too. Thanks for the matchbooks, DAVETV.
