According to the testimonies from my fellow workers, the working time in Nabel is more than the stated time from 8.00 to 17.00.
Though I was in Nabel, I still had other activities outside, like to be a teacher for Junior High School Students, as I had been since in university.
I was working in PT. National Gobel with an uncertain Saturday holiday, which was for education event if available.
Before Friday, my mother had asked me about my Job on Saturday, and I said, "Yes mum, I will go to work on Saturday." Because according to schedule, there would be a room arrangement for education room.
On Friday, a new information came that tomorrow would be off. But I forgot to tell my mother on Friday night.
On Saturday morning as usual my mother got me up. But I said that I was on holiday. My mother was rather disappointed for that, for she had to get up earlier, and lost her resting time.
When I was graduated from university, planning system was not taught yet. Every job in Nabel should be accomplished using a planning system: 1. Make an action plan. 2. Accomplish the jobs. 3. Report. So I got a little problem using the system.
I thought the system was only wasting time, because we should make an action plan before doing a job. I disagreed
After a period of time, I found out that my job was unsuccessful and is out of target. From that time on, I realized that the planning system is very important, though we were obliged to make an action plan, it's a token of professionalism.
There was raining and unpredictedly a great lightning shouted out when I was working. The effects caused some computer monitors turned off throughout the entire departments. Many phone calls came in to make my team busy for we are in technical support section.
The lightning had caused troubles on many displays of the AS/400 minicomputer. Though we have had a lightning preventer on the tower, but some small currents strong enough to make some disorders came stealthily to the AS/400 cables, for there was no protection on every cable from the lightning, of course.
My whole day was spent to check the problem. In some groups of displays, they became unstable. At last I find out that most of PC Support cards are damaged because of the worse grounding compared to the AS/400 display grounding. PC Support is a PC with a card with an ability to be an AS/400's display. The small lightning currents attacked the most unstable grounding units, that's the PC Support. Though the PC Support was off, but the connection in AS/400's displays in the group is still unstable, until I disconnect the PC Support's connection from the network.
From my experience, I realized that many problems are coming and are to come. But the one who doesn't have a good grounding in God, he is the one who will ba attacked and become damaged.

Before Nabel’s HomePage Project meeting in
18/2/98 when the US Dollar rate was still 10,000.-, Mr. Fujii, a new advisor in PT. National Gobel who has an
American style managing system, for he was working there
for 5 years, ask me, "You are in the HomePage
Project team, right?"
"What book do you think is the best for developing
the HomePage, do you have any idea?"
"Oh yes," I said, "The most complete set
of books I have found in Kharisma Book Store, Taman
Anggrek (TA). The price was about 400,000 rupiahs per
set."
"Do you think that’s the best book for HomePage?"
"Yes, for sure."
After the meeting, Mr. Fujii followed up the plan of
investing the books, said, "About the book,
let’s buy them, OK."
"It’s OK, and I may use my own money
first."
On 5.30PM, I hurried went to TA, hoping to buy the 400,000 books, but when I reached there, the price has increased to 1,320,000 rupiahs, so I calceled my plan. I chose and bought some other books about leadership and management, the Indonesian version, for the price increased only a little.
In the morning of 19/2/98, I reported the price to Mr.
Fujii. He thought for a moment and said, "The price
is of no problem, but I was resisting to make a Request
Sheet if the price surpasses a million rupiahs."
At 10.00AM he asked me to make a request sheet for the
item. "You must be hurry," he said, "I
will go at midday and tomorrow I will be off."
I made it and he take it to the Finance Director for sign
rightaway. After that, he gave it back to me at my table.
After lunch, he is going out, and I said, "How
about the money, should I get it from the Finance?"
He replied, "Wait a moment!" He opened his
wallet and gave me 1,1 million. I said, "I will
handle the rest, thank you." And he went out.
Now I could buy the book. It's very interesting. He didn't care about the price. What he is thinking is about knowledge. So knowledge is more important than the price. Go and get it.
Sometimes, because of a crisis, your ministry will increase your price to afford it. But it's of no problem if we focus our ministry on God, knowing Him better than the price we must pay.
If we serve Him only in our abundance, it's natural. But if we serve Him in our crisis, the great reward is prepared already.
On March 5th 1998, there was virus attacks to the whole departments in PT. National Gobel. Most computers didn't recognize their harddisk drive. Though in the C prompt, they cannot display their contents . There were a lot of jobs to do.
By using new Norton Disk Doctor(NDD) and Scandisk, the problem cannot be solved out. So we formatted some PCs and notebooks until we found out that using the old NDD, the boot sector can be repaired straightly, and use the new NDD to repair some disorders.
I was going to Semanan for teaching a course though it was confirmed that it's cancelled, because my friend, Husin for Arthur Anderson, who was conducted training for BPCS system would return home in Semanan. We passed over the Pondok Indah artery till we reached Puri Kembangan Toll Off. As he saw a traffic jam, we turned left to Kosambi road instead of the other next road through Mancur market. The way to Semanan was blocked, so that we pass the road Jl. Semanan Raya to Kalideres. On the way, there was crowded all along the road with many people standing on the left and right side of the road. I began speaking in tongue and praying to God and casting out every evil spirit that wanted to block our way.
Suddenly A people shouted, "Open the window, Chinese, we want to help you!" as he knocked our car's door. Husin refused opening the window, saying from the inside, "What's up?" We speeded up the car though there was a rather heavy jam, but he didn't chase us.
As we went on, there were even more people in the place crowded along all our ways. We didn't know where we were going. We had to pass a bridge to main road. At the bridge the mob (men out of brain) knocked our car windows again, saying, "Open the window!"
We planned to take the toll road to Semanan because the way to Semanan was closed, and thought that it's better if we called home information. Reaching ModernLand Tangerang, Husin called home, and it's found out that the turmoil had happened in Semanan, where TOPS Supermarket were crushed and robbed. Many chinese were beaten, some cars were burned.
Luckily we didn't return home, so we slept in the car at that night. In the morning we went to Husin's friend named Lioe Tha Nen in Palem Complex, Karawaci, Tangerang. There we stayed until the morning of 16 May 1998.
When we reached Tha Nen's house, people around the place had begun to gather for the next robbery to Lippo SuperMall, Karawaci. We stayed at home watching carefully to anticipate any turmoil to our residence. We had hidden our car to the original people around the place.
In the afternoon, we say many people plundered the SuperMall. We saw some burning smoke in the air from various places around the complex. In the evening, as we heard from the people there, there were many people died in the SuperMall.
In the morning of 16 May 1998 when we were planning to go home, I tried to pay a sum of money for the family but they refused. As I perceived that this shouldn't be paid, for this cannot be measured by money.
From what happened here in Indonesia, I could see that people lack of knowledge will be so disturbing, easily persuaded. Most of the people here in Indonesia are not educated. In the turmoil, most of them just do the same because some of them do bad things.
But all things happened here could make Christians become more fervent in prayer. In economic aspect, Chinese in Indonesia hold more wealth than the original Indonesian. Chinese here work hard to gain their living. But most of them are lazibones. The wealth management system is different too. Most Chinese here will take their gain to gain more wealth, but most of them use their gain to go home town to spend all they get, then afterwards go back to Jakarta to work. Most of Chinese here, if they converted from Buddhism, they will become Christian. Maybe this is an other reason they become jealous.
The main purpose of this resignation is to be able to serve God more and to prepare for a further education. In this I have a plan to go abroad to Taiwan for a further education, even working. The two last projects to accomplish are Nabel's WebPage and Nabel 2000.
I had prepared my resignation on 31/3/98 according to Mr. Damiri, the Assistant Manager at that time, "If you want to resign, don't care about company, just do it." Near 31/3/98 Mr. Daniel, my supervisor said, "You should not resign now, for you should finish your projects as your responsibility. Mr. Fujii, the advisor will be so upset if you resign now. Job transfer should be accomplished before resignation to maintain good relationship. Probably next time, you will have business relation with this company. It's OK if you resign now, but think of the effect."
I agreed of what he said to delay my resignation to 30/9/98 until my job transfer to a new trainee done.
