Pictures of Mike's Player
Currently my player is being housed in a Dell case that I had lying
around (with a noisy fan in the power supply). I took the front off
the case so I had something to mount the LCD to. Some Erector pieces
were used to mount the LCD on the front (as well as for the floppy drive
since it seems like I'm missing some of the drive bay mounting area).
I don't yet have a CD ROM drive or an IR receiver.
You can probably notice how the case really isn't ideal since the LCD
hangs over on the left side, as well there was no easy way to route the
cable from the LCD (to the parallel port) through the case.
This case is really just a temporary case. I plan on having a
custom case made once I get the complete player working. To give
you an idea for size, the Dell case is about 38 cm (15") wide and about
37 cm (14.5") deep. The size of the board the LCD is mounted on is
19cm x 5.5cm.
This is a close-up of the display. I realize it's a little redundant
to display the song length, time played, and time remaining, but this is
really just an example of some of the information that the plug-in will
display.
The size of the display area of the LCD is about 14.6 cm by 3 cm.
