WIA Vic Division AGM

The Victorian Division of the Wireless Institute of Australia invites all members to attend the Annual general Meeting on Wednesday 31 May, commencing at 8 PM at the St Michaels Community Centre Hall, Cnr Victory Boulevard and High Street Ashburton. Enter from Victory Boulevard. Ample parking available.
These are obviously tough times for the WIA. Quoting from the CEO & Treasurer's report (Barry Wilton VK3XV): "When there is an increase in the rate of subscription, members expect an increase in the level of services. In practice this is almost impossible to achieve. The additional funds are needed to meet increased operational expenses, taxes and other imposts.
If WIA Victoria is to remain financially viable and provide membership services into the new millennium the Council is going to have to make some hard decisions and develop a totally new business plan for the future."

Membership renewals

Some of you are still not financial for 2000. Last month I included 26 invitations with  the April Newsletter, to renew membership with FAMPARC. Although some have responded, still quite a few are outstanding. Once more an invitation for payment will be enclosed with this May Newsletter. I am sure that for many of you it has just been an oversight to pay  your subs for this year. ($25 for a full membership, $20 for pensioners.) If you think you are in financial hardship contact your Treasurer Craig and I am sure we will come to some arrangement. Be part of the action around the rebuilding and fitting out of the new club rooms!
If still no response has been received by the end of May, the committee will make the assumption that no renewal is sought and we will regretfully mark the membership in our register as ended in 2000.
Which means that this will be your last newsletter!
