I had put up with several people for long enough, and the time had come that I needed to get my revenge. Being the nice guy that I am, I didn't want to do any permanent harm, but I still wanted my victims to know that they were being punished. I got my friend Josh to help me. We had our list and we had our plans--we were ready to go.
The first person on our list was Emily. She had earned the reputation in my mind of being a very assertive, forceful, stubborn, and arrogant girl, and I didn't care for her. I knew that she ran through the open area north of the Student Union every morning, so that would be the site of our attack. It was simple -- Josh would hide behind one bush and I would hide behind another, and we would each be holding one end of a piece of twine so Emily would come running along and trip. No serious physical harm, but it would be quite embarrassing.
Emily came running along as planned, so Josh and I pulled the twine tightly so that it would trip her, and sure enough it did. Emily fell flat on her face and everyone around laughed. Finally she had been humbled, and justice was served. But I saw something else--the twine had cut through her shoe and two of her toes. She wasn't bleeding, but the toes were laying there on the sidewalk. I felt kind of bad, because I didn't mean for her to lose her toes, but that kind of thing can be undone with a little surgery. I know from experience.
So I picked up the toes and we carried on. Next was a girl named Elizabeth. I didn't really have anything against her, but she also needed to be humbled. Josh and I found her sitting up in the treehouse in her backyard. We quietly climbed up the tree and chopped away the supporting planks, sending her tumbling to the ground. Some bruises and scrapes, but nothing serious. Or so we thought. I looked down on the ground and saw that the tip of her ring finger had broken off! I picked that up too.
The 'attacks' continued, and every time they messed up somehow and the victim lost a piece of their hand or foot. I felt bad because they kind of need those pieces, so I made sure to pick them all up. And when my mom got off work, I was going to ask her what could be done. So I sat at home and waited for her. About 4:00 pm she came home and I told her about the severed phlanges. She was upset because after 4 hours fingers and toes cannot be reattached, and it had been longer than four hours. So I decided to try on my own and I went to each person and taped the piece of finger or toe back on, hoping that they would grow back on. Josh and I had also lost little chunks, so we taped our pieces back on too.
After several weeks, my pieces were reattached. I asked the others, and none of them had success. I felt very guilty.
