Great 8 Winter Games

The Great 8 Winter Games this year included one of the Upper Peninsula’s largest chess tournaments this year. On February 15, 1997, 23 scholastic chess players under the rating of 1300 USCF in grades 4th through 8th showed up to play in the tournament. Medals were awarded to the top 5 in each grade. Tom and Justin Ceterski directed the sectional tournaments. The winners of each section are as follows:
