Michigan Technological University has once again started up their chess club. In September, they held a free chess tournament at MTU. There was a good showing of 15 local players that varied in rating from 2400 to unrated. It seem that they will have a strong chess team this year.

Dmitry Olevskiy and Francois Margot tied for first place with 3.5 points in the 4 round tournament. They had a two game play-off that ended with a 1-1 tie. Therefore they ended up sharing first place. The best unrated trophy went to Fred Bardo.

There was no entry fee for the tournament which had refreshments and trophies sponsored by the MTU Chess Club. The MTU Chess club meets every Sunday in room 202 Civil-Geo (Dillman Hall) from 1-5 pm on the MTU Campus.
