In the recent Wisconsin Junior Open, several UP players did very
well. Justin Ceterski won the Wisconsin Junior Open with an undefeated score
of 6 - 0 in a strong field of 120 players. He received the first place trophy
for his play, but since he was from the state of Michigan, he did not qualify
for the Denker Tournament. Jeremy Truitt won the top 1300 trophy with a score
of 4.5-1.5. Ken Ceterski and Jake Truitt also played well.
Bob Bergman won the Class B prize in the Veterans Tournament. He
had a great performance and came out with a score of 3.5-1.5. There were 38
strong players that showed up to this tournament. Jerry Truitt, Tom and
Martha Ceterski had a good tournament also.
At this tournament, Tom Ceterski won the top Class A prize, and Ken
Ceterski won the top Class C prize. Nearly 60 people played including IM Josh
Manion, and SM Curt Brasket.
In the Herman Schramm Memorial, Justin and Tom Ceterski tied for
first place with a score of 4-1 along with two strong experts. This was a
rather large tournament for the Wisconsin Chess Association with 50 players
participating. Bob Bergman , Ken, and Martha Ceterski also had good
performances.
