Its public art component explores a segment of Los Angeles' Korean American diasporic community in telling family stories of those who originated from North Korea. Their stories will be printed on labels affixed to jars of commercially sold kimchee.

The use of kimchee sold in the marketplace is a way to distribute art publicly and create an unexpected link between the interviewed families, the artist, KAM, grocery stores and consumers in their homes.

At the same time that these specially labeled kimchee jars are available in stores, KAM will hold a corresponding multi-disciplinary exhibition in which invited participants explore various aspects of this singular Korean icon and item of daily diet.
