It all started with the US KRH86 NYC Reunion ...
January 18, 2007: Pizzeria Uno
photo

No, we did not go out and eat at a food cart in the street. It was freezing and drizzling and maybe snowing/sleet. As Mitzie and I stood on 86th Street looking around, we picked out Pizzeria Uno. Nice place to eat, Chicago style pizza, meaning deep dish. To me, the crust is lighter and has a buttery taste compared to NY pizza. We ordered a small one to split and sample. We also had pasta and quesadillas. Of course, dessert. Mitzie ordered a giant cookie with whipped cream and a scoop of ice cream on top. Mmm, with two spoons, we shared that, too!

Yes, it was just Mitzie and me again. Marius, you missed out on this, there’s a bar up front, too. I had a raspberry colada for you. Nick was with his fraternity brods, a couple of them just came from the Philippines and they had their own get together in Midtown.

Basically, the meeting went like this: we reviewed everything that looked important, and it boiled down to the reminding everyone, only two months to go! Get those reservations in! Logo? It’ll get shelved unless anyone gets hit in the head and heart with creative inspiration, so send it in, too! Just a reminder, read Mitzie’s take below. Those are the room rates, DO the math, and add the taxes.

P.S. Topic of interest? I’m not sure if we actually discussed this during the meeting, but we did chat this weekend about high schools. Just before I left my school for the UP KRH86 meeting, I passed by the office and the school secretary was talking to someone on the phone. I stopped because I heard “high school,” “letter,” “today,” and “happy.” Now, this week was the release of acceptance letters from Catholic High schools. When she got off the phone, the secretary started closing all her drawers and computer while trying to put on her coat and talk to me. The church secretary’s son had just received his acceptance letter to his first choice high school. Now the school secretary was rushing to get home and check the mail for her son. All I could do is stare at the clock and say, oh no, I’m not going home until later.

Not that it mattered, when we did get home, no letters in the mail yet. The next day, however, Nick and my youngest called me at work to say he received his 2nd and 3rd choice high schools letters (Fordham Prep and Iona Prep). Then, this Saturday, he received his 1st choice high school acceptance letter to Xavier High School. Yehey! Of course, with a scholarship and grant!

At some point, while YMing with Mitzie, (she was the first to know
BTW) we did chat about high schools. Despite the touch of paranoia
at times, we really shouldn't doubt our kids, dahil matalino naman
ang mga Mommy! ROTFL

Mitzie's Update:

Hi Batchmates!

I have been getting emails asking me about the rate of Affinia Hotel because
it does not seem to be the same with what the hotel is giving and what I have
given you. Just to clarify, that the rate the hotel is giving if you call is
per room per nite and does not include taxes and other charges. The rate I have
given is per person per nite and includes taxes and other charges. I did it
that way for the sake of those who wants to share rooms so they will know how
much it will cost for each person. FYI, the contracted rate is:

Studio Suite Room - $199.00++ / per room per nite
1BR-Suite Room - $249.00++ / per room per nite

Remider to everyone, the deadline is next month. Please start calling.

Thank you!
